Desmond smiled as he saw Lambert outside on a bench, he had a cup in front of him and was emptying a pack of groundnuts into it.
"Lamby the Lamby!" He hailed as he shook him.
" Yo what's up?" Lambert said making space for him to sit.
"So far so good...I can see you are enjoying na".
" Eh-eh, don't tell me you came all the way to jest at me".
" Am sorry, you too de vex...abi garri no be enjoyment?"
"Of course not!" Lambert remarked, " in fact, you are not drinking again" he added as he drew the cup closer to himself.
Desmond laughed and just then his phone rang,
"Hello Jemima?" He said smiling as he answered it. "Now...ok where..... alright am on my way..love you!" He said as he hung up.
" Hmmm, lover boy!" Lambert said smiling.
" Would you stop that?, can I get two thousand naira from you?"
" When will you pay me back?"
" A-beg just give me yet, I have to be at golden plaza now". Desmond said standing up.
Sighing, Lambert rummaged through his pockets and finally pulled out some notes, looking at Desmond he pulled out two thousand and handed it to him.
"Thanks a-lot bro, no worry I am gonna pay you back" Desmond said pocketing the money.
"Get mind do otherwise, and know know that I've included an interest of five hundred Naira"

A few minutes later he was seated at the golden plaza restaurant, sitting opposite him was a girl.
"Jemima, you sounded serious, what's wrong?"
" It's nothing much, just something I want to tell you" she replied .
" Ok," he said, and then turning to a bus boy he said, " hey, please get us two yoghurt and five meat pies quick".
The bus boy nodded and hurried off.
" So what is it you wanted to ask?" he said smiling.
" It's just that...look, we've been dating for almost two years now and I don't think it's heading anywhere reasonable" She replied.
" What do you mean?" He asked as his stomach turned sour.
"I mean...it's time we call it off, you barely have enough to take care of yourself not to talk of both of us"
" Ah, Jemima...what- I thought you said you didn't care about my condition...you said you loved me and not what I have...what are you doing to me now!"
" Am sorry Des, but times have changed, I've already met another man and we're getting married next month...am so sorry it had to be this way. Goodbye Desmond". she said as she stood up grabbed her purse and walked out of the restaurant.
"God!, This isn't happening...No, no, no!..... He muttered with his head bowed.
This couldn't be happening, why was he so unfortunate, why was all these happening to him...all his life he had been subjected to one misfortune or another and despite all he had done, nothing seemed to work. Just then the bus boy arrived with what he had ordered.
"Here is your order sir."
"There's no need, I'm not having it again" he said and stood up to leave, immediately the bus boy held him back.
"And who is going to pay for this?".
"Look if you don't get your hands off me!" he suddenly screamed. " I will show you the other side of heartbreak!". He added shrugging off the busboy's hand and walked out.
