A Wild Scientist Chase

“How did you…” 

The doctor was shocked seeing Hugo and Blaise. He started clicking some buttons on the wall but nothing was working. Realizing that his tech might be down, he pulled a g*n and aimed it at them. It was no ordinary g*n, it was the size of a pistol. He pulled the trigger and starts shooting at them. Both of them dodges as Blaise tossed a g*n at Hugo. It was a shooting party as the others watch in fear. 

Blaise shot the doctor on his shoulders. It groans as he decided to run away. Both of the boys went to the imprisoned companions and lets them free. “How did you managed to breach this lab?” Thilda asked as she helps her other friends. “There is no time talking, we need to tackle Asante.” They nod as they split up and get to their businesses.

Blaise was woken up from his slumber. He looks around as he tried moving. His hands were tied and he was on a chair. It was dim as he tried to struggle. The lights turned on as he realizes Hibi and Hugo were there on his sides. Everything was white around them. He stopped as he heard footsteps in the room.

He looked at his front as a familiar face emerges. A man who has the same age as his, walks up, with a laboratory robe and messy black hair. He smiled sinisterly, “Look who we got here!” Blaise gritted his teeth, “Asante…” 

“Blaise! Long time no see, bud!” The doctor walked up to him and pats his shoulder. “It’s been over 3? 4? I don’t know… Let’s just say it’s been a long time since we have met.” Blaise looks at him, “Why are you doing this!? And you are not my bud, you are not the Asante that I met before.”

He snickers, “I am still me! With the same name, same way of speaking, and the same talent! Well, I added some while I’m at it.” He smirks as he looks around his companions. “I missed the times when we are just experimenting. I am sad that I am more advanced to you now.”

“Are you just here to brag about what you have achieved?” The doctor laughed, “No! No… Of course not. Well, I can though, but I wouldn’t waste my precious saliva listing down what inventions I created, I will just tire myself. Anyway, you are here because you entered my premises. This is my territory, so you obey me!”

“Where are my friends then?” Asante looks at him as he smirks, “Well, I just made the rest so they can witness what I am gonna do. I don’t want them to miss it. And since you three hopped in, why not join them?” He approached a button, he was stopped as he heard a familiar feminine voice.

“Don’t you dare, Asante!” Hibi protested as she struggles. He smiles as he approached her, “Hibi, my love… You are finally here!” He caresses her chin as Blaise’s eyes widen. “Love? Hibi, what is happening? You got some explanations to tell us!” She bites her lips as she looks at the ground, “Well…”

Currently, the others are taking out the staff of the doctor. Thilda stabs a man who was looking at a tablet screen on a neck and putting him on the ground gently. She gestures her hand to her back as Arabella and Melvin followed her. They split up and takes down the remaining staff in the room. They were stopped as some of Asante’s “army” attacked them. Blaise went past them and helped them with their problem.

“Asante is releasing the army of his experimented creatures, be careful.” He warned them as they nod. He then ran again, looking for the mad doctor. 

Meanwhile, Ophelia and Peony are on their own. They are venturing the second floor of the doctor’s laboratory. Taking down any staff's insight and freeing some prisoners. “Where could have the others been?” Ophelia shrugged as they free the other prisoners, “I just wish they are fine.” 

She was stopped as someone grabbed her wrist. She was carried away by its strength. “Ophelia!” Peony shouted as the doctor aimed his g*n at her. He switched the g*n’s function as he shoots at her. The bullet of the g*n hit Peony’s heart as she slowly slides on the wall and falls to the ground. “Peony!” Ophelia shouted as she was taken away, she felt sleepy and closes her eyes. 

“Asante! Show yourself.” Blaise called him as the hunt continues. He almost got him several times but due to that it is his lab, he has more advantages than Blaise. He knows every path that he can take within the laboratory. “Don’t be a coward, let’s end this. Man to man!” He said as he looks around. “Come on.”

A sound of a footstep was heard as he aims at the source of the sound. He saw him with a hostage. It was Ophelia in his arms, struggling for her life. The doctor smirks, “I got your friend~” Blaise was shocked, “Put her down! No hostages, just us.” Asante snickers, “Do you think that I will fall for that? I am more intelligent than you. You can’t even go past what I have achieved already.” 

“Don’t put that on my face, Asante. Stop bragging, because you won’t feel this achievement anymore when I end your life.” The doctor laughed aloud, echoing in the room they are in now. “You think you can end me that fast? One-click, one of your friends will fall dead on the ground.” Ophelia’s ability was useless for this moment, she was weak and she can’t find any water source. 

Blaise is still aiming at him. The doctor smirks as he shoots the boy in front of him. Blaise dodges it as he ran around the room with the doctor kept trying to get him. He can’t move that much since if he lets go of Ophelia, it will be his loss. 

The doctor stopped as his back was kicked, making him knockback on the floor. He immediately aimed his g*n at Ophelia as someone pulled it from him. It was thrown across the room. He tried to crawl towards it but something touched his ankle and pulled him backward. “You aren’t gonna do this, Asante.”

“Yes… I am his girlfriend.” Hibi was looking at the ground as the doctor laughs. “Oh… Your face is priceless. Never expected an innocent-looking girl to betray you?” Blaise was angry, they just willingly step into his trap. “I am better than you, Blaise. Even everybody says we are the same, no, we aren’t. I am smarter than you. I can pull tricks up my sleeve. Some that you never expected. Oh, the sweet sensation beating someone who kept pulling me back on my dreams.”

“I never let you down, Asante. I was a good friend.” The doctor laughs, “Good friend? You are joking. You were the hindrance to why I can’t show off my skills. Because you thought we can do better if we work together.” “But we did!—” “We didn’t, I mean, I have so much more to myself. I kept them because I tried to be at the same level as you but I am not!”

“You are just talking selfish, Asante.” He glares at him, “I am not. Can’t you see I have a brighter mind and have the greater ability? Yes, it may seem I am just great at biology, but I am not, Blaise, I am not. It was better without you. I nourished myself and became better. I used your technology against you and the hotel. Speaking of it, I wish it’s burning to pieces now because that is my hell hole.”

“Anyway, I am not gonna waste my time anymore. Staffs, bring them to their new room.” He exited as the staff untied Hibi since they respected her. She looks at Blaise and Hugo who were just looking at nowhere, accepting their fate. She thought of everything they’ve done for her for days she is with them. She secretly plotted her seeds and takes out the staff. 

She freed the two. “I thought you are with the doctor?” Blaise said as she unties him. “I will rather be with you guys than that crazy man.” She breaks them from their situation. They dressed up as the staff and pretended that they were imprisoned.

“Hibi… Why are you betraying me?” Asante looks at Hibi who was keeping his lock in the place. “I am done with you. You are not that smart, even love can blind you.” She lets Blaise handle his situation. As Blaise aims at him, he smirks and laughs. “I am smarter than you all.” He extended his arms as the place became filled with smoke. As it clears, the doctor is gone. 

“Find him!” They split up and tries to find the doctor. Ophelia found him as he was running into a room. She called the others and ran after him. The doctor went in a car and starts the engine immediately. As he was starting to run off, Ophelia jumps to the back of the vehicle as it went off. 

“Let’s follow them,” Thilda said as they went into the tunnel where the doctor drove off. The vehicle pops out of nowhere on the surface with Ophelia holding onto it. The doctor was shocked as he found out Ophelia was with him. He tried to sway her off the car, but she got some strength even she was weak earlier. It’s like adrenaline rushed into her body.

Blaise took a car and the others went in and they followed the two. It was like racing in the city. Blaise kept trying to follow the car but now and then, the doctor would make a hard turn to corners and streets. They have bumped on people and caused some accidents while chasing the doctor away.

“Get off my car!” The doctor shouted as Ophelia is still crawling herself onto the top of the car. She tried gathering some water around her to help her out. She starts putting puddles of water everywhere as the doctor smoothly passes by them. Ophelia is starting to lose her grip but she stayed on. She tried everything to distract the doctor and make him stop.

“This is getting me dizzy and… I feel I’m gonna puke!” Peony said as she holds her stomach. “Peony doesn't puke please, don’t. Keep it in!” Thilda lets her rest on her lap as they kept chasing down the doctor. The people started to report this chase and some police officers already noticing this. Minutes later, it became a chasing-ception. With the police chasing them, it became harder to navigate and take turns in the city. 

“Get off my car!” The doctor once again shouted as he took another hard turn to the left. It almost made Ophelia lost her grip. Since they are near some bodies of water, Ophelia is gaining more water for her to distract the doctor. 

“Veuillez arrêter immédiatement.” A French police officer said on a megaphone, telling them to stop. Both of the cars chasing each other ignored them as they continued this chasing frenzy. “Encore une fois, arrêtez immédiatement. Veuillez coopérer avec nous.” The police once again said, pleading with them to cooperate with the authorities. 

“Why is the police get in this!? We need less problem here!” Blaise said as he took another hard turn which made them all sway in the car. It made Peony’s situation a lot harder for her. “I can’t handle this anymore!” She suddenly went to the window and lets it all out. Some of it landed on the windshield of a police car. It made it stop and it made a mess. The other cars start bumping to each other and flipping due to making it stop. 

Ophelia gathered enough water as she throws it in the doctor. It made the doctor distracted as he took a hard turn. Ophelia not gripping enough to stop herself from throwing herself across the street was thrown out of the car’s roof and onto the body of water. She sunk on the river as the doctor immediately went off as he clears everything out. 

“Ophelia!”
