Chapter 16Alex checked his watch and saw it was approaching eight-fifteen as the taxi pulled up outside Sandra's flat. He had hoped to make it by eight but, all in all, he felt he'd done quite well. He pressed the button on the entry system and was about to announce his arrival, but there was a buzz and the door opened almost immediately. He resisted his first inclination to bound up the stairs, instead taking them at a steady pace and preserving more of his strength.
