I sat in the nursery rocking chair, barely breathing as I cradled Haze against my chest. We'd only moved the crib and furniture in last week, thinking it would still be months before either baby arrived. Corey turned again inside me, almost like she knew he was here early. Like she wanted to meet him. It had been almost two hours since the c-section. Shade had left to find food for Haze. Formula, for now. It hurt to think about.
