Shade sat propped up against the headboard, his arm strapped across his chest in a thick black sling. He didn't complain, didn't groan, didn't shift. Just sat there like he'd braced himself for worse. I sat cross-legged at the edge of the bed, bottle in hand, Haze nestled in the crook of my arm. His little hands pawed at the air every time he sucked too fast, making a mess of the formula soaking through his onesie. My shirt stretched tight across my chest, tighter than it had before.
