I stood near the window and crossed my arms. My whole body still pulsed from everything that had gone wrong already. I hadn't even finished washing the night off me. Hadn't let myself breathe. And Shade wanted to leave again.
He didn't ask. He just kept pacing. He didn't seem to notice how close it was pushing me to the edge, or maybe he didn't care.
Cy and Hailee hovered near the door. Neither of them said anything. Hailee shifted like she wanted to vanish. Cy kept glancing between the two of us.
Shade looked at Cy. "Finish patrol. I'll deal with you later. Take her if you have to."
Cy didn't budge. He kept his arms crossed as he looked out the window at the moon. He looked back at Hailee and sighed.
Shade stepped forward. "I said now."
