SHADE POV - I pulled on my clothes without turning on the lights. The night pressed in from the windows, but I didn't need light to move. I knew every corner of this place. I didn't need light to be pissed either. My jaw ached from how hard I kept clenching it. Whoever had been outside our window, watching, didn't leave a scent trail. No heartbeat had reached my ears. Nothing distinct. Just a shift in the leaves. A cracked branch. Enough to make my blood run hot. The violation tore through the bond like barbed wire. It took a second to realize I was feeling Aria's shock directly like it was my own. Her sense of exposure pulsed straight through me. Rage built in my chest. I wanted to burn the entire forest down if it meant dragging out whoever had dared watch us so vulnerable together.
