The omegas twins

The following afternoon... Theo adjusted the cuff of his charcoal-gray suit as the elevator descended into the underground parking garage. Alex followed closely behind. "Are you absolutely sure you want to do this, sir?" Theo smiled faintly. "You've asked me that six times." "And I'll ask a seventh." Alex opened the car door. "The Moretti sisters aren't ordinary businesswomen." "So I've heard." "The rumors about them..." Theo climbed into the back seat. "Rumors are often exaggerated." Alex hesitated. "Not these ones." The Rolls-Royce eased out of Blackwood Tower and merged into traffic. Theo watched the city pass by. Everyone spoke of the Moretti twins as if they were monsters. Yet monsters weren't born. They were made. And somehow... That thought unsettled him more than the stories themselves. Moretti Group Headquarters. Unlike the Blackwood Tower, which embraced sleek modern architecture, the Moretti building resembled a fortress disguised as a corporate headquarters. Black marble covered the exterior. The windows reflected the afternoon sun like polished obsidian. Security was tighter than at most government buildings. Armed guards stood at every entrance. Theo stepped out of the car. His eyes immediately swept across the area. Three rooftop security teams. Eight guards in the lobby. Hidden cameras positioned at every blind spot. Efficient. Disciplined. And prepared for war. Alex lowered his voice. "We can still leave." Theo chuckled. "If I leave now, they'll assume I'm afraid." "Weren't you trying to avoid trouble?" "I am." "Then why walk into it?" Theo straightened his tie. "Because sometimes peace begins with difficult conversations." Inside the executive floor... Victoria stood beside the panoramic windows overlooking downtown Los Angeles. Her emerald-green eyes followed Theo's arrival below. "So he came." Bella walked over carrying two cups of coffee. "I told you he would." Victoria accepted one. "Most people decline invitations from their enemies." Bella laughed. "He doesn't seem like 'most people.'" The office door opened. Marco, the head of security, entered. "Boss." Victoria turned. "Yes?" "Our scanners found no weapons." Bella blinked. "None?" "None." Victoria frowned. "Search again." "We already did." "He isn't carrying a knife?" "No." "A backup firearm?" "No." "A panic button?" "No." Bella leaned against the desk. "So..." "He trusted us enough to walk into our headquarters unarmed." Neither sister spoke. For reasons they couldn't explain... That fact made them more nervous than if he'd arrived with an army. A soft knock echoed through the office. Marco stepped aside. "Mr. Theo Blackwood." Theo entered calmly. No arrogance. No fear. No attempt to dominate the room. His deep blue suit fit perfectly, complementing his broad shoulders without appearing flashy. Dark hair. Sharp jawline. Calm gray eyes that quietly observed every detail. For a brief moment... No one spoke. Theo was the first to break the silence. "Good afternoon." Victoria recovered first. "Welcome to Moretti Group." Bella smiled brightly. "I'm Isabella." Theo nodded politely. "And you must be Victoria." "I am." She gestured toward the seating area. "Please." Theo sat across from them. He noticed immediately that neither woman reached for the coffee waiting on the table. Instead... They watched him. Studied him. Measured him. Like two lioness evaluating an unexpected challenger. Bella leaned forward first. "I have a question." Theo smiled. "I'm listening." "Are you really the son of Diego Blackwood?" "I am." "You don't look like him." Theo's smile widened slightly. "I've heard that's a compliment." Bella giggled. Victoria remained expressionless. "Our families have been rivals for decades." "They have." "And yet..." She folded her hands. "...you still accepted our invitation." Theo met her gaze without hesitation. "If people refuse to speak because history tells them to hate each other..." "...nothing ever changes." For the first time... Victoria looked genuinely surprised. Most people answered her questions defensively. Theo answered them honestly. Bella tilted her head. "You're strange." "So I've been told." "What are you hoping to gain from meeting us?" Theo looked from one twin to the other. "The truth." Silence settled over the room. Victoria narrowed her eyes. "The truth?" "There are always two sides to every story." "And?" "I've only heard one." Bella's smile slowly faded. Nobody... Absolutely nobody... Had ever asked for their side of the story. Victoria decided to test him. She subtly released a wave of her omega pheromones. Almost instantly, Bella understood and quietly added her own. The sweet floral scent spread through the office like invisible mist. Most alphas reacted within seconds. Some became flustered. Others lost focus entirely. A few couldn't even maintain eye contact. Theo noticed the scent immediately. His shoulders stiffened ever so slightly. His heartbeat quickened. He inhaled once... Then slowly set his coffee cup down. Victoria watched every movement. "So?" Theo looked directly at her. "Was that necessary?" Bella blinked. "You noticed?" "I'd have to be unconscious not to." Victoria rested her chin on her hand. "And?" Theo smiled politely. "I'd appreciate it if you stopped." Bella frowned. "Why?" "Because business meetings shouldn't involve chemical warfare." For a heartbeat... Silence. Then Bella burst into laughter. Victoria closed her eyes briefly, fighting back a smile. "You just called our pheromones chemical warfare." "They're remarkably effective." "And yet..." Theo calmly met Victoria's gaze. "...they won't influence my decisions." Victoria's emerald eyes searched his face. No arrogance. No mockery. No struggle. Just quiet confidence. For the first time in years... Someone had resisted them without insulting them. Bella whispered, "He's real." Victoria nodded almost imperceptibly. "Interesting..." Theo glanced between the sisters. "I have a feeling this meeting wasn't actually about business." Victoria answered honestly. "No." "It wasn't." Theo sighed. "I suspected as much." "Then why stay?" He stood. "Because now my curiosity has been satisfied." Victoria raised an eyebrow. "And what did you learn?" Theo adjusted his jacket. "That the infamous Moretti twins aren't nearly as terrifying as the rumors suggest." Bella gasped dramatically. "Did he just call us overrated?" Victoria couldn't suppress the small smile tugging at her lips. Theo walked toward the door before stopping. Without turning around, he said, "Thank you for the coffee." "You should try having a genuine business meeting next time." Then he left. The office door clicked shut. For several long seconds... Neither twin moved. Finally Bella spoke. "I think..." "...I'm in trouble." Victoria looked at her sister. "What do you mean?" Bella covered her face with both hands. "I've never met an alpha who wasn't afraid of us." Victoria slowly walked back to the window, watching Theo leave the building. A thoughtful smile appeared on her lips. "No." She murmured. "Neither have I." Elsewhere... A hidden camera zoomed in on Theo as he stepped into his car. A gloved hand clicked a button. Another photograph printed from a small portable device. The picture was pinned onto a board beside two others. Theo. Victoria. Bella. The mysterious figure picked up a red marker and drew a single line connecting all three photographs. "The first meeting..." The voice was calm. "...went exactly as planned." As Theo's car disappeared into traffic, his phone vibrated. A message from an unknown number appeared on the screen. You should have declined their invitation. Now you're part of the game.
