Aphrodite POV We’ve been on the road for about 3 hours now. I’m not sure where we are going. No one will tell me anything. It’s okay though because I’m not in the mood to speak to anyone. I have a lot on my mind. I have so many questions I need answered. I just need to find the right time to ask. But… When would it be the right time? I mean I did just try to kill them. Now I’m in the car with them going to the goddess knows where. What am I thinking?! I am entirely too trusting. I know what I saw but what if I’m just believing a fake narrative put in place to lure me to The Dark One herself? I let out a deep heavy sigh. I ran my fingers through my disheveled hair. “Are you okay?” I heard a slightly deep voice speak. I looked up to see Draco’s eyes on me. They looked very concerned. I just stared into his eyes for a moment. I was admiring, really. His eyes were so beautiful. I’ve never realized how much I loved the color red until now. I know this is so fast and so sudden but it’s like.. I can feel the bond we once shared together before. Maybe I am only saying this because of trauma and what I saw but I don’t know I feel something. I broke eye contact with Draco and started looking out the window. I heard Darco sigh. “Are you tired Aphrodite? Maybe we should stop Darco” Lenelle said, his voice was as sweet as rain but hard like hail. “We are almost to our destination. She can rest when we get there” Darco deadpanned I did not protest stopping. I wanted to get where we were going because I needed to rest. The battle and the wound on my neck were taking a lot out of me, mentally and physically. Even though I had washed the blood off of me and changed into a off the shoulders floral sundress, I could still feel Colton’s blood on me. My eyes were heavy because of how tired I was but I was fearful of closing my eyes because I couldn’t stop thinking about how Darco killed Colton right in front of me. He slit his throat without any signs of remorse. The car suddenly comes to a hult notifying me that we have arrived at our destination. I looked up out the window to take in my surroundings. We were parked in front of a grand mansion that was surrounded by a gate and tree bushes. The mansion was all black with a shimmer of silver tones. It looked to be about four storeys high. Long elegant crystal like windows that stopped a few inches above the porch floor. A fountain was in the middle of the front lawn with a statue of a very powerful looking male who looked almost exactly like Darco. My eyes glanced towards the entrance when I saw the door open. The most elegant woman I had ever seen in my life was standing there ready to greet us. “Let’s go, our driver will grab your things.” Darco deadpanned, opening the car door to exit “Oh.. and please don’t stare. It makes my mother very upset” Darco added as he started walking towards the woman. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion because did he just call this extremely beautiful and young looking woman his mother? And, what did he mean by don’t stare? I got out of the car, fixing my dress, suddenly feeling self-conscious and insecure about how I looked. I walked with Darco and Lenelle making sure to keep a bit of distance between us. We stopped in front of his mother and she greeted Darco with a warm smile and a hug. She also did the same with Lenelle then her eyes fell on me. I met her eyes but I couldn’t help when my eyes went down towards her neck. Darco’s mother had three sunificently big claw marks on her throat like she had been attacked by an animal of some kind. My eyes filled with sympathy as I stared at her neck, which Darco warned me about doing. I heard Darco angrily clear his throat, my eyes snapped away from her neck and I lowered my head, apologizing. “I’m so sorry, I don’t mean to stare” I heard his mother chuckle lightly but that pulled at my heartstrings because it sounded like I had hurt her feelings. I felt her hand connected with my chin making my eyes connect with hers again. She had a warm smile on her face. “It’s okay dear. No harm done” she said smiling. Her voice wasn’t as elegant as she looked. It was guffey and raw like she hasn’t had a drink of water in a few months. “I am glad you are here. I am Kayla, Darco’s mother which I’m sure you already know. You must be tired. Please allow me to show you to your room so you can get settled. You can rest for a few hours before dinner.” she voiced warmly “Mother, I don’t think that is a good idea. Everyone in our coven will be at the feast tonight, maybe she should sit this one out” Darco firmly said. I scoffed. He wasn’t even my official mate yet and he was already trying to control what I did. “Nonsense! Everyone needs to relax a bit before the real work begins” she said just as firmly as Darco did, looking her son directly in his eyes “I will be honored” I smiled at Darco’s mother. His mother smiled happily at me. “Great! I’m sure you will have loads of fun. You need it after what you have endured dear.” “Thank you” I smiled. We walked into the mansion with Kayla’s arm wrapped protectively around my shoulders. Her embrace felt so motherly and so comforting. I quickly pushed past my thoughts of Kayla’s motherly comfort when my eyes connected with Rosie. She was standing at the front of the staircase with a pained but relieved look on her face. I ran towards Rosie embracing her. “I am so glad you are okay” I whispered in her ear “How are you? How’s Jeremey?” I asked pulling back. I wish I would have kept hugging her because the look she gave me when I mentioned Jeremey was a look I knew all too well. She looked like she was suffering a lost “What happened Rosie?” I heard Draco ask “Maybe we should all talk in the office” Kayla, Draco’s mother chimed in “I want to know what happened to my brother NOW” Draco roared “Son, you need to calm down first. We will all talk once we-” Kayla was interrupted my Rosie’s sob and she said; “He is in the ICU. While we were helping the pup from my brother’s pack get to safety, one of the vampires under your command did not recognize him and attacked him!” “He is badly hurt. The doctors don’t know if he will make it.” I wrapped my arms around Rosie to stop her from falling on the ground. She was hysterical, the mascara she wore was running down her face with her tears. “WHAT!? HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN!!?” Draco shouted, shaking the entire house. That accusation made Rosie cry even harder. I was getting angry. How could he blame her for something like this!? “Draco stop! You can not blame her for this! It is NOT her fault! She is just as hurt about this as you are, LOOK AT HER!” I yelled, defending Rosie. “I don’t care ab-” he started to say but I interrupted “GODDESS YOU ARE SO GOD DAMN SELFISH! YOUR MEN DID THIS TO JEREMEY! TO ROSIE! YET YOU BLAME HER! IF YOU HADN’T ATTACK THE PACK IN THE FIRST DAMN PLACE NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED! YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOURSELF, YOU POMPOUS ASSHOLE!” I yelled, my eyes flashing with my magic. The silence in the room was so thick you couldn't even cut it with a knife. “How about we all calm down and take a breather.” Kayla suggested calmly. Draco didn’t wait for anyone else to speak before he stomped upstairs with Lenelle in toe.
