In an instant, Alpha Alek chuckled. The sound cut through the air like a knife. Lyra growled at him in protest, her small body bristling as she snapped. “Alpha, this is no laughing matter! Her life is precious!” But Alek only found it more amusing. He started to laugh outright, shaking his head as though the timing of everything was nothing but a cruel joke. One hand covered part of his face, the other tucked lazily into the front pouch of his jacket. “I’m aware,” he said between low chuckles. “It’s just… some link came through at the worst possible timing.
