The train ride between the two districts never took more than ten minutes but after what had just happened to her Ammy felt like it took longer than ussual. Her head constantly snapped to look over her shoulder to see if she was being followed by the men from before. As she stepped off onto the train platform she hastened her step to get home as soon as possible. Half way home Ammy took her phone out from her coat pocket and sighed in defeat when she saw the smashed screen and cut earphones. "Must have happened during the fall. Well at least now I don't have to think about answering his phone calls anymore." What else could she do but try to find the silver lining in all of this. But that also meant she wouldn't have her music anymore as a distraction for when her Aunt Zaria got home with that excuse of a boyfriend or for when she decided to go down a raging road. Sigh Ammy's walk home was filled with her reminding herself not to worry about my encounter's wellbeing. 'I didn't even get to see his face. What am I thinking, but then again it's for the best, he might change his mind and sue me for any items damaged during the collision. People do that often I'm pretty aware of the shifty nature people tend to give, one second they are kind and considerate the next they are telling you how you were to blame for everything.' Now standing at the front door of the place she called home, she hesitate before opening it, thinking of whether her aunty would be home still. When she plucked up enough courage to do so she was welcomed by the quiet. Ammy dragged herself off to her room and closed the door shut behind her before kicking off her shoes to lay down on her bed and pull the covers over her sore body. There wouldn't be any water for a bath until morning anyway and she felt sure she hadn't the strength to stomach anything. ........ Ammy woke up in the morning to streaks of sunlight creeping into her room from the half drawn blinds. She groaned turning onto my other side to avoid the light only to feel a pain steel her body from the fall yesterday, it was enough to make her lose all hope of drifting off into oblivion. She walked carefully to take a bath taking time to soak in the warm water while trying to relax her taught muscles. It helped bring down the swollen bruises too. When she walked out of the bath into her room having brushed her teeth and wrapped her body in a towel she caught sight of her reflection in the closet's full length mirror. Luckily her skin hadn't turned animated colours of blue and purple. All that was seen were the bumps and slight swellings around her upper thighs and shoulder. She owed that to the fact that her skin was tougher and even had a natural tan than most, Aunt Zaria told her it had something to do with her father's genetics or something. Her skin was also one of the only things she loved about herself, it was flawlessly light golden, true most of the girls had prided themselves for pale porcelain skin but she loved hers just the way it was. Her mother never talked about her father but Aunty Zaria snuck in a few details here and there not much though just t**s and bits. Ammy opened the closet to pull out her typical everyday outfit which would have consisted shorts and t-shirts. Today however she chose more covered clothes so as to not let anyone catch a glimpse of the bruises on her body. She let her dark long hair down in it's ussual style, falling over half her left eye. A habit which she had developed to hide from the world but mostly because it helped draw less attention to the very slight discolouration in one of her irises. Not that anyone would notice it immediately they looked at her, but growing up the way she had, Ammy developed many insecurities concerning her appearance. After she was done dressing she walked out into the passage and concluded that aunty Zaria hadn't made it home last night. ' Probably for the best. ' She thought to herself. Over a bowl of cereal, Ammy's mind wandered off to her last moments with Tumal. He was an exchange student from District A's most expensive and prestigious school and also the son of a very well respected and powerful man. It was the first time ever that there had been an exchange program between the two districts especially one that involved the son of such an influencing figure as his father. Everyone at her beat up school expected him to be out of place, golden boy, perfect hell she did too. But he managed to win over everyone's admiration, even the big druggie boys leaned in and seemed to change even though very slightly as in the ways they conducted themselves. It's was completely unexpected that he would pick her out of all the girls in the school and go as far as to ask her out. What supprised her more is that she said yes. They first met in the school's library, a surprisingly embarrassing incident that involved books topling over a broken shelf and the librarians loud voice telling them to be quiet as she didn't know just how much damage golden boy had caused. His clumsy act was so human, even more human was his flushed expression as he explained he was trying to ' act cool ' and make a good first impression on her. They often talked in the library, then he walked her home one day and later they were talking during school lunches and taking advantage of their shared classes. She got a lot of attention from everyone at school, girls wondered ' who's the girl we never knew attended this school ever and how did she manage to turn golden boys head ' kinda attention and the boys thought it had something to do with what lay in-between those long golden legs and soon enough started to pretend they cared to know her. After he moved back though when the program was over she quickly put out any flames of hope that the two would have continued to be anything. Following that discission she locked herslef up and ignored his calls and visits. No that isn't what happened... would have been nice though, cause then she would blame only herself for their breakup. In truth His parents didn't approve of their relationship, they said a bunch of mean things and humiliated her enough to last three life times. The last days of school after he left were equally tormenting. From being a nobody to being a daily remark relief topic. She missed being invisible and most of all regretted ever thinking anything good could come out of what she allowed to turn out that way. The very thought of enduring another year of high school made Ammy want to bury herself in her room and never leave. But if anyone wanted to make a decent living in a district like this and education was the first step. Ammy was pulled from her thoughts by the sound of Aunty Zaria's door opening slowly before she walked into the passage. One look at her and Ammy knew what happened that dampened her mood. Aunty Zaria's boyfriend had the tendency to walk out on her when he felt like it, leaving the woman to pick up her broken heart and patch it up only to come into her life again and do it all over again 'Seems that's all men are good for.' Ammy stood, pulled out the chair opposite her and made another bowl of cereal to which Aunty Zaria sat down to eat. chewing down on every bite slowly. ' Good morning Aunty Zaria '. I say. 'Good morning '. She replies her voice hoarse from all the crying she must have done at night. ...... A knock at the door made Ammy's head lift from the sitcom she had randomly chosen to sit through. She questioned who it could be seeing as to how Aunty Zaria had already left for work and hardly anyone ever visit their home. A few options came to mind of who it could be, firstly, her aunt's boyfriend who had the habit of dropping by at random and odd hours, secondly Tumal who's calls she had been ignoring and no longer even received since her phone took to the grave, thirdly.... Her face went grey when she though of the men in black suits from yesterday. Ammy sunk deep behind the head of the couch she sat in and dreaded going over to open the door. After a second knock she plucked up enough courage to sneak over to the nearest window that offered a view of the front door. There stood a tall slim man in a dark grey suit a d behind him standing next to an expensive car where two of the guards from the day before. Their serious expressions and build made Ammy wish she were dead. Who had she pissed off now.
