Grant POV
She looked nervous, biting her lip, her cheeks flushing. I tried not to show my eagerness. The last two days had been spent at the hospital, with Jadette, but I had been turfed out and told to rest in my own bed tonight and get proper sleep. Now my mate was hesitant. I knew she’d been abused; knew she was probably fearful. I couldn’t push her. I couldn’t force her. This had to come naturally, and this had to be her choice. I was content just to hold her in my arms as we slept. She’d slept in my bed the last few nights alone, I could smell her scent on the bedsheets and the pillows, and my mouth watered from the intoxicating smell. She fidgeted with her hands, her breath hitching in her throat. I sought to reassure her.
