THERON’S POV The jet-black darkness of the night has already taken over the skies when we arrived back at the castle. We let our horses rest on their respective stables and entrusted them on their caretakers, before walking to enter the castle. When we entered the castle, our family’s servants and butler welcomed us with greetings. I immediately asked Mr. Romulos, our family’s entrusted butler about Kiera and her actions inside the castle. “I’d like to ask about the lady, that I entrusted you to keep an eye out Mr. Romulos,” I said, facing the silver haired man. “Nothing bad happened in the castle, while you were away your highness,” he replied while still in a bow stance. “You know Theron, I think Kiera is not really that bad and she doesn’t really do any harm,” Sigurd said. “How can you even tell that? Do you even know her from the start? Someone reliable told you that?” He just sighed, “You’re just too negative about things.” “Fine then… but I bet she already left the castle and have already reported to her bosses about what she had learned in her stay here,” I turned my back and walked out from the place. I immediately headed towards my chambers and washed my body in a bit then changed my clothes. After some time, someone knocked on the door of my room. “Your highness, your dinner is already prepared. Prince Sigurd is already waiting for you in the dining hall,” a maid said on the other side of the door. “I’ll be there shortly, thanks.” I replied. Wait a minute, only Sigurd is present there? Why? I mean… where is Kiera? I immediately went out of my room and headed towards the dining hall. I saw Sigurd already on his seat waiting for me. “So, where is Kiera?” I asked Sigurd, as I sat down as well. Sigurd cleared his throat, “So, you are already looking for her now huh?” I turned my gaze to Mr. Romulos, standing in the side close to us, which smiled a bit. Then to Mrs. Sonya, the head of the maids in the castle. The two of them were the one who took care of us since we were still kids. We only trust the two of them fully in managing the and taking care of the castle. “I don’t really mean anything about that Sigurd,” I snorted. “Really? I thought you are already missing her now,” he teasingly smiled at me. “There’s nothing to miss about that girl, she’s just a headache for me.” Sigurd erupted into laughter, “Reasons Theron.” I just shrugged off his teases. I just didn’t bother about it and started eating dinner. It was that time when I saw a maid approached Mrs. Sonya and whispered something to her. She just nodded and the maid immediately left afterwards. Mrs. Sonya then bowed at us before she faced us. “Your highness, Lady Kiera is nowhere to be found in her chambers,” she stated. I raised an eyebrow to what I heard; Sigurd then is left wondering.  “Have you tried looking at other areas in the castle?” Sigurd raised a question. “Lady Kiera is nowhere to be found in the kitchen and the royal garden, we have also tracked down the possible areas she could go but we couldn’t find her,” one of the maids replied. “I told you Sigurd, that b***h have already fled from the castle and sold us off to her master,” I angrily said. “Theron!” “What? That girl was a spy!” “That’s enough Theron, let’s just find her… check all the areas in the castle, don’t skip anything!” Sigurd commanded. “As you wish your highness,” Mrs. Sonya replied. She then turned around and went out to gather all the castle’s servants. I sighed. “You are just wasting your efforts and time there Sigurd… that b***h have already fled from here,” I gulped a one big bite of my food. We just ate our dinner silently, only the utensils and plate we’re using were making noises. This is what happens when Sigurd is not in the mood. “Did you made sure, no one has entered the castle Mr. Romulos?  It might be someone have infiltrated here and maybe abducted Kiera.” “We made sure that the premises are tightly secured your highness, no one has entered the castle without permission,” Mr. Romulos replied. I could only sigh. I finished my dinner quickly and then went out of the dining area. If I ever confirm that, that girl is a spy I will seriously take her life with no doubt. I headed out of the castle and walked past the gardens. When I arrived at the edge of the castle’s territory, I found a somewhat, plain land with only grasses growing, I decided to lay down and gaze at the starry skies. I darted my sight to the direction of the palace and noticed a window still open specially at this moment. As I remember where it was… it is the library of the castle. “Who opened that window?” I also noticed some silhouette near the window. I couldn’t clearly see what it was so I headed to the palace again, aiming to the library. I guess, it’s been a while since I last entered the library. I stopped going into that place since my mom passed away, I only remember her and those painful memories when I go there. My mom used to love that place since she loves reading so much. Well, Sigurd goes to the library sometimes but he doesn’t leave the window open really. If I remember right, it will only be opened for so long when its time to clean the library but will always be closed afterwards since that was our instructions to the servants. While I headed towards the said library, the memories of our mom went pouring into my mind. I couldn’t help but feel gloomy again remembering those good old days when mom was still here. When I arrived in front of the door, I immediately opened it and gathered my gaze towards the direction of the window where I noticed some silhouette of something there. I was surprised when, I found a girl holding an open book which rested on her lap and her head was slightly inclined towards the window while in deep peacefully sleeping. “Mom,” I suddenly uttered. It almost seemed like an afterimage of my mom. I remember back then that we would also catch mom sleeping in that place while holding a book. She would often fell asleep there, after reading a lot of books. I can feel my eyes welling up in tears suddenly, so I looked up in an attempt to hold it back. “You should stop it Theron, you are old enough… you should not cry. You should refrain thinking about the people who are not here anymore, let them rest peacefully.” I uttered to myself. I gathered my eyes again towards the direction of the window, and still found the girl sleeping peacefully there. I crossed my eyebrows, I thought I was just hallucinating things and saw mom’s image there. I approached the lady and then at that exact moment, the beams of the moon touched her skin in which made it seem to glow like a pearl. I fixed and removed her hair that covered her face and saw a seemingly innocent little lady sleeping. I clicked my tongue, “She’s crazy really, why the hell did she sleep there? You almost look like an innocent kid who never experienced pain and the harshness of this world… that can sleep peacefully anywhere.” She suddenly moved her arms which ceased me from moving as I might wake her up. The book resting on her lap fell on the floor so I picked it up and scanned it. History of Ornothopia I then darted my eyes back to the sleeping like baby, Kiera. I am contemplating if I should wake her up or not. She suddenly moved again, this time she turned her head and started leaning on the other side. I immediately moved closer to her and caught her head. If I didn’t do that, this girl would have fell on the floor by now. She is now leaning to my body, with her face gently inclined towards the same direction. I am just standing facing her and unable to move. “This girl is like a kid who needs supervision always,” I protested. It seems like I will become her baby sitter in no time if I ever keep stumbling towards her like this. I could only carry her in my arms than wake her up or we’ll get stuck here and headed towards her room. “Dad… Mom…” Kiera mumbled. I ceased my pace and I looked at her face when I heard her talking suddenly. Yeah, I still don’t know anything about her yet. But… she’s not my business, its not as if I am taking an interest on her or something so why would I even bother knowing her? When I arrived on her room, I gently lay her down in her bed and covered her body with the blanket since it’s getting cold. She suddenly laid on her side, facing me, and I flinched since our faces almost touched each other. I almost automatically turned my gaze towards the direction of the door when it suddenly opened. My almost dropped to the floor when I saw my brother Sigurd, who is also surprised at what he is seeing. When he seemed to collect himself, he leaned on the door and smiled full with malice to me. Sh*t! I immediately stood straight and walked closer to Sigurd. I feel like my cheeks or my whole face is burning red, as my heart went accelerating off the charts. “Oh my! I wonder what my little brother is planning, I guess it’s something special? Did I ruin your plan? Why didn’t you tell me earlier, I could have prevented ruining your night your highness,” he erupted into laughter. I snorted, “I am not planning something and I am not doing anything, our faces just accidentally got closer when she faced me.” “Really? Why does your face seem to tell a different story? It’s so red,” he giggled. “You were just hallucinating things,” I said as I get past him. “I guess you should let it checked by the doctors, maybe you got sick, too bad if it would get worse,” he yelled while still laughing. Jeez… that’s very embarrassing, and Sigurd was really annoying. KIERA’S POV I stretched my limbs as I sit on the bed. I felt all the energy returning to me after that good rest. I curled under my blanket again after stretching. Wait? Blanket? How? I sprung out of the bed immediately. Bed? When did…? How did I end up here when as I remember, I slept in the library near the giant window? Someone suddenly knocked on the door. “Lady Kiera, are you already awake? The breakfast is now ready for you,” a lady on the other side of the door announced. “ah… hm… okay, thank you, I’ll be there in a minute!” I replied. You know what? I feel very lucky here really, living like a real princess… though it seems so embarrassing to Sigurd if I stay longer here. I don’t want him saying that I am taking advantage of his good will that I’ll keep living here. I took a bath and dressed myself up and fixed my hair. After that, I went out and headed towards the dining hall, I am already seeing Sigurd and Theron waiting on the table. I just sat directly across Theron. “Good Morning Kiera,” Sigurd greeted, beaming at me. “Good Morning too, Sigurd,” I replied. “Did you know who… OUCH!” Sigurd yelled suddenly. He just darted his eyes to Theron, then to me while still keeping that grin shining on his face. “A… are you alright?” “Ye… yeah, it looks like I bumped my foot on something hard,” he’s still smiling. I just nodded, yet I feel something’s off on him. The two maids, Kristina and Diana arrived in the hall together and stood near the doorway of the hall. “I thought I told you not to leave Kiera alone,” Theron seriously said to the two maids. “Its… its just… your highness,” there’s an obvious fear in their faces as they try to answer Theron. I should take responsibility for this since, I was the one who made them leave me, it’s my fault. “Theron, please don’t scold them… I am at fault here. I pleaded to them to leave me alone for a while since, I am not so comfortable when someone keeps on following me.” He clicked his tongue, “I instructed them to keep an eye of you, I was the one who gave them the order, so the only one they should obey is me.” “Woah, you’re so selfish Theron,” I said. After hearing what I say, I saw him and his face turning dark, maybe he is pissed or something.
