The two nuns talked very little since the night in the convent when Sister Mary Paul had made her mad with incoherent statements. Sister Mary Rose avoided her, never agreeing to share chores. She didn’t even allow herself to ever be alone with the other nun; and she didn’t know what to do about her. The memory of that moment was ingrained. She tried to push it away, but it surfaced.
This time there were more people involved and it was not good. How much did Sister Mary Paul hear and did she see them holding hands? Nausea swept over her; she felt like throwing up. If Sister Mary Paul knew about Richard, what would she do with the information?
