The story she gave hospital staff was that she’d been out for a brisk walk in the early morning when a dog or coyote attacked her. She didn’t get a good look at it. The lack of information resulted in her receiving the first round of anti-rabies shots, along with antibiotics, pain meds, and stitches.
For her part, Riolo played along, saying that Kenna flagged her down by the side of the road. No, they didn’t know each other otherwise, which helped with any suspicions the doctors and nurses might have. Riolo didn’t even know Ken’s full name. Useful, considering she ended up choosing a fake ID and insurance card. They’d be gone by the time the hospital discovered it wasn’t real.
Since Kenna wasn’t admitted, she and Riolo simply walked out the front door.
