Chapter 16
Ken took a four-hour nap on Yuuki’s couch until the sun came up. It wasn’t even remotely enough, but if she didn’t sleep at all, she might pass out behind the wheel. As it was, by the time they’d reached the apartment, she could hardly stand.
Once they collected Yuuki’s things—which resulted in a screaming match with the drunken roommates, who wanted but would not receive her share of the rent—the two hit the road, headed east. The vast majority of mutation-turned-tornado events were on the other side of the mountains, in areas that already had their fair share of those storms. If they didn’t find anything by the time they made it through the Rockies, then a quick stop in Colorado might be in order. In the meantime, it would just be the two of them, riding on country roads.
