She nodded off for only a second. Hours and hours of driving got the best of Ken and her head dipped. Though she hoped Yuuki wouldn’t notice, she immediately grabbed the wheel to steady it. “Holy s**t,” she shouted. “Wake up!”
“I am awake. I’m fine.” Ken pried her fingers off of the wheel. “It’s just been a really long couple of days.”
With every passing hour that the enemy had her dad, his likelihood of survival decreased. And while, back in Colorado, Katya utilized all of their resources in an attempt to locate him—unbeknownst to Adelaide—along with Yuuki’s more generic internet searching, they hadn’t found anything yet. Desperation alone kept Ken awake. But even that wasn’t working any longer.
