Chapter 18
Ken spent as little time as possible preparing herself for the trip. After a short shower, hiking boots replaced her usual sneakers, and thanks to the cold weather, she dressed in a heavy pair of jeans, a thick sweater, and a soft knitted hat. Much of her usual attention to appearance went disregarded. Where they were going, it wouldn’t matter. In fact, nothing did except rescuing Dakota. Getting him back. That was all she cared about. Saving him and surviving.
When she finally went downstairs, she found that Yuuki had made similar adjustments to her appearance. She waited patiently in the living room, seemingly ready to go whenever Ken gave the word.
