After more than an hour of searching in the cold, Ken couldn’t help but notice that Yuuki was slowing down. And she shivered uncontrollably, despite multiple layers and a big scarf. Kenna stopped, removed her own hat, and handed it over. “Put this on,” she ordered. “It might help.” Yuuki inspected the knitted purple adornment with suspicion. “Uh, not really my style,” she laughed past chattering teeth. But beggars couldn’t be choosers, and in the next breath, she said “Thanks,” and donned the garment. The pair walked in silence for a few more minutes before it became clear that even the gift wouldn’t be sufficient to warm Yuuki, who, quite frankly, was used to southern California weather.
