Lily. I couldn’t live with myself if something happened to her. When I found that some man that worked for me had a secret stash of poison in his possession I rushed back. I even risked the fact of seeming unsettled in front of the Kings. Apparently they did notice I was unsettled considering I was standing next to Luke King, but now that didn’t matter. I had a liar and an assassin in my home. I would have whoever was behind this head. I snuck a glance at Luke, he was watching, every move. He was analyzing me and waiting for me to make a mistake, to give him something to report back to his father although I am sure he already had plenty. Right now I had enough to worry about without him looking over my shoulder. “I think you have enough to tell your father. You are excused.” My temper was getting out of hand and I didn’t need him here to see that. With one nod my men were escorting him outside. “Madam are you sure that was okay? That you are okay?” Lily's voice was calm and soothing as usual but it was going to take more than concerning words to calm me down at this point. I headed to the boxing room and she was quick to follow. Quickly she helped me put the gloves on and I let it out. “WHY?!?! WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE!! WHAT DID I DO WRONG?? TELL ME AND I WILL FIX MYSELF!!!!” In between every word I took time to throw multiple punches. I could feel the sweat trickle down my back. I was on the verge of tears when I felt Lily envelope me in her arms. Soft…..Sweet…
“Sis, are you ok?” There she was. Slowly I opened my eyes becoming painfully aware of all my injuries, but I saw a face. An angel? No, Maria! She was perfect, pure, innocent. I will protect that with my life if I have to. “How long has it been since you have taken a bath?” My words were horse and frail. Definitely due to the multiple broken ribs. “You dummy! You are badly hurt yet you once again put me before yourself. Here, let me get you cleaned up.” Maria, it may be the dumbest thing I have ever done in my life but, I love you….
“Cheyanne! Are you ok?” Lily again, maybe I should rethink how much I like her voice. “What?” “Oh thank goodness! You passed out, is everything ok?” I jumped up. The last thing I needed was sleep! I had an assassin to break, people to train, someone to hunt down and kill, but I did not have time to sleep, and now I was down however many hours I was out for. I will be working through the night then. “How long?” “About an hour. I bought some tea if you want it. Peppermint?” “Leave it there and then go find Alex and tell him I wish to talk to him immediately.” My voice was more harsh then usually but I did not have time to take time and be gentle. Lily needed to know that I was serious because it was of grave importance. If the assassin had cracked already that would be very beneficial but if he hasn't then I have to get my hands dirty and that is more time wasted over pointless s**t. Right now I was regretting passing out. I went to my side table and grabbed the tea Lily had placed there, at least it was still warm. Aex came to my room not a minute after I sent Lily out. “You called?” He knew what I was going to ask, there was no way he didn't.
“Where are we with the assassin?”
“He is good at avoiding our questions. He does not answer clearly and”
“I don't want excuses. Do you know who sent him here?”
“No.”
“Then since you can't do your job it looks like I will have to do it for you. You have 1 hour to find everything you can about him before you take his place. Go.” Damn it. Not what I wanted to hear, but I could handle this. Training doesn't start till tomorrow. I know Alex, he will find something exceptionally now that he was under pressure. I don’t like feeling hopeless, and I was tired but I needed to get everything ready. I got up on my feet and walked out. Before I shut the door in the dark I whispered, “I am a monster.”
