I woke up with a buzzing feeling in my head. I tried recalling the activities that happened yesterday night.
I could never really stand the sight of blood. Mishael took me from the house when it seemed like all hell was about to break loose.
I and Mishael were having a deep conversation when the door opened up revealing those two men.
No one seemed to have noticed my initial fright at the sight. Though I was a ring leader's daughter, introduced to violence at a young age, I never really liked it no matter what happened. That's why I pleaded with my father to let me go to college even if he didn't want to. I had struck a deal with my father to go to college. Now I had to keep my end of the bargain.
The sun was rising. The curtains had not been drawn so rays were filtering into the room and entering my eyes.
I rubbed eyes trying to take note of my surrounding. This room wasn't like the room at Mr Wyatt's house.
Things were coming back slowly to me. This was another of Mr Wyatt's houses. Or so I heard yesterday when he told Mishael to take me away.
I stretched my legs under the covers. The room was big and looked feminine. They wouldn't have prepared it in the night. It was someone else's room. Maybe one of the men who lived here.
I looked at the far end of the rokm and noticed a figure I hadn't seen at first. It was Mr Wyatt. He sat on the armchair, facing towards the ceiling and his hair falling to the side. What was he doing in here?
He seemed asleep or so I think. His chest heaved slowly.
I tiptoed out of the bed, searching for the bathroom. I found it and slipped inside slowly.
I really don't know why I was being sneaky.
I turned on the shower and let the warm water envelope me
This was exactly what I needed except the warmth couldn't wash the amount of blood I saw out of my memory.
Spending a couple more minutes inside the bathroom, I stepped out of the shower, dabbed myself dry and left the bathroom.
When I got into the room, Mr Wyatt was still in the same position as I had left him. I stepped forward to peer closely into his face. The next thing that happened, happened in a blur.
I was seated firmly on Mr Wyatt's body with his hand tightly pressing my neck, restricting my airflow. I tapped his hand so he could release me.
When he did I rushed out of his grip. Holding my towel tightly against my chest and gasping for air.
"s**t, Kathleen, I'm sorry, I didn't know it was you." He said taking slow steps towards me and I stepped backwards. Massaging my throat where he had gripped me and swallowing air as fast as I could.
"I'm honestly sorry." He said. His face sure did show his sincerity but I think staying away from him was the best. Mafia dons had ugly backstories including drug consumption.
"It's okay, just stay away from me." I said finally finding my voice.
"Please don't ever come close to me like that again. Whenever I'm asleep, don't be that close. It's more of a reflex action and I regret it. After everything you saw yesterday, I apologize." He said.
I was tired of hearing his repeated apology speech. "It's okay, I understand you." I said. Anything to stop him from rendering another apology.
I walked into the walk-in closet and pulled out a sweatshirt and sweatpants I found and put them on.
When I returned to the room, Mr Wyatt was now standing at the window. Looking up into the sky.
I sat down on the bed, tying my hair in a ponytail and studying Richard's back at the same time.
What was he thinking right now? Almost as if he heard me he turned to face me as he supported his weight with the wall behind him.
"I shouldn't have brought you here. I should've waited till things were okay here before bringing you in." He said.
Now I was confused. Yesterday he seemed like I was nothing to him. Just a price or whatever and today he suddenly cared?
"Are you bipolar? Or do you have a multiple personality disorder?" I blurted out before I could stop myself.
He smiled at that. Yups. This man definitely had some real mental issues.
"Mishael always says I am bipolar. Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. But you, a drug dealer and ringleader's little girl is scared of blood? What are the odds? I would've never guessed." He said, tapping his finger on his thigh. A habit I've noticed him carry out a lot.
"Many people are scared of blood. It's not a new thing."
"You don't seem like someone who'd be scared of anything. You're not even scared of your father and that man does give me the chills." He said.
"Mr Wyatt, you're all rich and powerful and my father who is like an ant who you can crush any moment scares you? Yeah right." I replied and scoffed at him.
He moved from the wall and approached the door. "You'd be surprised how many people I find intimidating. But, they don't dare cross me cause who in their right senses would dare cross the man could end them in a matter of seconds?" He asked.
"That's true." I replied. It made sense.
"Mishael will be here to pick you later and prepare you for the party we're both attending tomorrow."
"Party? Yes, finally some freedom." I said happily. I loved partying in Hue City because they were very nice and lively. But attending wasn't really easy when one gang or the other was waiting to blow my head off.
"Kathleen, can you call me Richard, not Mr Wyatt? I'd really prefer that." He said still backing me and s hand on the door knob.
"Why? Isn't Mr Wyatt your name?"
"You call it like I'm an enemy."
"I prefer Mr Wyatt. The relationship between us is purely business so any name other than that is a no no for me." I replied. He just had to spoil the mood.
"It's not just business Kathleen. You're my wife to be. Get used to it." Before I could reply to him, he had walked out the door.
I put my head on a pillow and screamed my lungs out. I hate him so much. I hate Mr Wyatt very much.
