I kept on sneaking glances at Kathleen. She was calm in an unnerving manner but no bother she couldn't escape me. It's funny how Kit Turner wanted to wiggle out of the deal we had made. I drummed on the steering wheel as I waited for the gates of my mansion to open up. Wyatt mansion was a wonder to the eye and I was impressed when I saw the awe in Kathleen's eyes as she saw the building. Her long brown hair kept on falling in front of her face and she'd whip it backwards. All through the ride that's what she had been doing. I just had one problem with her. Kathleen had a smart mouth. I don't like people who have smart mouths. I'll have to teach her how not to be so prissy with me. I stepped out of the car after turning off the engines. Kathleen was already out with her hands in her back pocket. "Richard, I wasn't expecting you here now." Someone behind me pays my shoulder in a friendly manner. I turned to see Mishael. My right hand man. That was true. I wasn't supposed to be here now. But when I heard that Kit Turner wanted to double cross me, I came back. "Nevermind, who's the brunette?" He asked his eyes, drinking Kathleen in. I stopped myself from growling out. "My property." I replied to him. Kathleen wasn't standing far from us. I knew she heard our conversation. When Richard first spoke, she looked at him but didn't give him much attention. She walked down to Mishael and stuck out her hand while sending me death stares. "I'm Kathleen Turner. A human being, not a property." She said in a matter of fact way. "Hi, I'm Mishael." 'You've got a handful on you.' Mishael mouthed at me, I gave him a small smile. Kathleen kept on glaring daggers at me. If she could, she would kill me. "Come on, let's go in." I waved her to follow me. I really don't care if she did. But then, she did while murmuring curses at me. I would prefer to live in a small house but someone of my status had to live in a house that showed my power and position. We walked into the sparse living room. I heard her intake her breath. "Impressed?" I asked her without turning to look at her. I was replying to some emails. "This house is freaking huge, and the interior is breathtaking. Look— she tugged at my coat arm, I dropped my eyes on her hand, she hadn't noticed what she had done as she pulled me towards what caught her interest— it's a little fountain in your living room." I honestly don't understand this woman. I looked at the little fountain with her. Her mouth kept on running about the interior. "I still hate you, you know." She said finally. I turned to face her with a smile on my face, she looked serious. I removed the smile from my face. "Why are you here then?" "Mr Wyatt, I've told you in the car. It's useless to run. Now." "Now?" I questioned curiously. What did she mean by now? "Yes, now. I won't have to leave, you'll let me go of your own free will. You're a mafia don, you play games. I'm the daughter of a ring leader, I was born around games. This one, I'll play, and I'll win." "Is that a challenge?" I asked, my voice nearing a dangerous tone. "Yes, Mr Wyatt, it's a bloody challenge. I'd wish you Goodluck, cause you'll need it a lot but neh, you'll survive." "You're a funny one Kathleen. But sure challenge accepted." She stuck out her hand and I shook it. She had a sly smile on her face. Interesting. "If you're done gloating, can I show you to your room?" She nodded. I showed her the other rooms in the house. Telling her where what was in the house. Throughout the tour, she didn't say anything. I announced go her dinner will be ready in an hour. Then I left her. Something inside my head kept telling me that Kathleen would be too much to handle. I stepped into my in-house office. "She's something isn't she?" I looked towards the window and saw Mishael sitting on a chair close to the window with a glass in his hands. I pulled off my coat and put it on the hanger. "Yes she is." "Richard, you can't control that woman." "Who told you that I can't control her? Whenever have I ever had an issue controlling anyone?" "Never. But not Kathleen, she's special. I can feel it and she's the girl from that night isn't she?" He asked. I joined him on the seat and poured myself some whiskey. "She is." I said as I downed the whiskey in one gulp and filled my glass again. "Are you smitten or are you with her for the prize that comes with her?" He asked. I thought hard. What really interests me with Kathleen? Herself or the prize attached to her?. "The prize. But I'll have to have her marry me." Mishael shook his head. "Richard, you're growing old. You're already old. Don't you think you should really settle down and have a family?" "That's what Kathleen is here for." I said tapping my glass. "Not an arranged marriage or planned one, Richard, but a marriage out of love." "A Mafia Don does not love. Love isn't in our line of work." I downed another shot and kept my glass aside. I don't want to get high. "Bullshit, Kathleen isn't a woman you can do as you please. She won't give up without a fight. You've got a lion in your house." I nodded at him. Kathleen was everything any man would want. But she was simply a deal to me and nothing else. "Richy, you can keep on lying to yourself. But deep down, I know, Kathleen is more than a prize." A knock came from the door and a voice called out that dinner was ready. Me and Mishael started our way downstairs. "I'll go call Kathleen." He said to me and moved towards the direction of her room. 'She's just a prize' I whispered to myself.
