The Journey Called Life

Episode 5

Daniel continue to steal with some bad group of boys until one day when they decided to rob one of the houses that they assume the owner has lots of money. They prepared and picked up their weapons and stormed the place, killed the security man and gain access to the main building. Daniel started raising his voice that they should bring out all the money in the house, so the man obeyed and brought out all the money in his bedroom. The other boys picked up all the smartphones and jewelries and they left the building.

The following day, Daniel and the boys shared what they got from the robbery last night and he was given part of the money as five hundred and seventy thousand naira which is more than what he expected and he was really grateful to the gang. 

Without wasting much time, Daniel rushed to the hospital to see his mother and bought lots of things for her to take care of herself while he continue to hustle for money to take care of her. He was so happy to see his mother so healthy and getting her weight back after the doctor has promised to make sure his mother will be fit again. He went to see the doctor and show his appreciation for keeping to his words and he is really seeing improvement on his mother. 

Some of the elders from the village came to visit Nkechi and to know how they are fairing but Nkechi was not happy to see them. The elders told Nkechi that Daniel will take the position that his father refused and he has to do it fast to avoid any calamities. Daniel rushed into the ward where his mother is and saw the elders going out and he greeted them, then went inside only to see his mother sad and he asked what is the matter? And she replied him saying "Nothing". Daniel told his mother that he has seen the doctor and that she will be discharge soon but she has to relax and have enough rest without thinking about anything.

Nkechi asked Daniel how come he was able to pay the hospital bill with that huge amount of money? Daniel replied saying that "it was one of his friends that lend him the money to him". Nkechi went into tears and prayed for Daniel because she never believed or thought that the bill will be paid.

After a month, Nkechi was discharged from the hospital and Daniel took her home then prepare warm water for her to bath and prepare something for her to eat.

The next day, Daniel went to a construction site as a bricklayer, after working for five hours he sat down thinking about his life and asked himself a question "is this how he is going to end up without money and helping his mother who needs him more than anything? Knowing fully well that he is now a full grown man that has to take his responsibilities seriously. The engineer saw him sitting down and shouted at him and threatened to reduce his daily pay if he continue to sit down while others are working. Daniel apologies and stood up reluctantly and feeling so bad at the manner in which the engineer spoke to him.

After the day's work, Daniel went to a beer parlour to have a drink to cool his mind when one of his friend saw him and approach him, asking him what is wrong with him because he look worried and Daniel asked him to leave this place.
