Mali puts a hand to her mouth, trying to cover a giggle, and locks eyes with him. A grin pulls at the corner of Peter’s lips until a full-fledged smile spreads. He chuckles, putting a hand over his eye and forehead. A pounding, clanking, splashing, and laughing leaks through the door into the hallway. Sarah and the other children turn to the door. Whispering ensues. Sarah giggles at the children, putting her finger to her lips. They attempt to stifle their giggles and bite their lips together. The hallway fills with sniggers, snorts, and shuffling feet. Peter picks up the amethyst, holding it in both hands in front of him, and stands next to his desk. Mali puts out her hands to him. “Give me your stone, Bren, and you may leave to change clothes if you wish.” She wiggles her fingers
