CHAPTER SIX In Caleb's chambers, Lilith stands in front of the window. She holds her hands out, intensifying the rain. She tilts her head up, squeezing her eyes closed, and moves the clouds with bursts of wind every few minutes. Her drawn out breaths make the muscles in her neck protrude and retract along with her collarbone. The veins in her hands and forearms protrude more and more with every strained movement of her curled fingers. The rain beats down on the trees, brush, and ground. It sprays against the stone walls beside her. The birdbath ripples, overflowing onto her feet. Wind billows into the room, fluttering her dress all around her. Nothing though.
