CHAPTER TWELVE When Peter pushes open the large wooden doors, everyone stops and stares at them. It is so quiet in the massive room that the high-pitched mice squeals reach out into the hallway as they crawl along the lofty stone rafters. Sarah watches them, unsure of how many are real mice. Wait. The students aren't allowed to change forms. Gross. They allow mice in the dining hall? Peter bows up, taking in the new and tense surroundings. Why’re they all so quiet now? Is it that unusual for there to be a newcomer in the Academy? As the two of them walk down the aisles to the basket-surrounded food line, the other students watch their every move.
