The Young Master, Alexander Sinclair had an ailing father, who wanted an heir, but he also wanted Alexander to get married first. He told him that he would lose all his inheritance if he didn't get married this week.
Alexander was least bothered about getting married, as long as it pleased his father, Richard Sinclair. All he wanted was someone to call his daughter-in-law, Alex thought.
Afterwards, He can file a divorce.
Alexander is the only son and rightful heir to Sinclair's family wealth. He had been trained and taught to be independent, and he believes in self-reliance and doesn't think he needs love. He also had an ugly experience when he was much younger.
He had come to the coffee shop to pick up his soon-to-be bride, Claire Adams, but upon meeting her, she said she wasn't interested and wanted someone who could offer her financial freedom and elevate her social status.
Alex had used an average man to talk to her, trying to see if she would agree to marry him. He believed that all women wanted him for his money, and that turned out to be true.
Presently, he stared at Ava intently, He remembered how uninterested she was about him during the presentation, and how she never really gave any attention to him. He felt ignored, even while exuding his power and wealth.
Isaac walked over to the Young Master and whispered details about her, including her recent marriage, and how it crashed. Suddenly, Alex let out a cryptic smile. And he slowly turned his gaze at Ava.
“How do you intend to pay for it? I'm guessing you've been fired.” His masculine voice sent her shivering.
“I–I'll…I can try, just give me some time.” She said, knowing fully well that she couldn't.
“Pfft!” He left hold of her chin and sized her up while keeping a straight face.
“You have delivered yourself to me on a silver platter, you might as well replace Claire,” Alexander said, coldly.
“What! Who's Claire? What are you even talking about?” She protested.
“I want a wife to please my father, Claire failed to complete that task, so you will replace her!” He added.
Ava frowned at his words, “What! I can't do that, I don't even know you?”
Alex's thin lips parted, he was taken aback by her response. But he didn't leave any hint of what he felt. He didn't expect anyone to reject his proposal, Ava had surely gotten his interest.
“The watch or the wedding? Pick wisely. You have a minute!” He stated, calmly.
Ava was surprised, she knew she couldn't purchase that watch, even in 5 years, but she still couldn't choose to marry him. Her last marriage still haunted her because of how heartless men could be, and now this.
She wasn't also interested in seeing anyone, yes he was handsome and rich but gosh, he was so rude and demanding. She looked up at his expressionless face and scowled.
Ava suddenly remembered the CEO's words, from the G.T.X Corporations. She knew that if they got married, she could make him invest, but at the same time, it wasn't worth it.
She wasn't really in need of money, as she could handle her father's hospital bill properly. She weighed her options for a while and was still reluctant to answer.
“We will be married for five months, after which we get divorced.” He added as he noticed how reluctant she was.
‘5 months to get the company and leave his boring life, I think I can handle that. She pondered.
“Fine! Let's get over it.”
Alex gave Isaac a signal, and he escorted Ava out of the coffee shop. It was her first time entering a luxurious vehicle. A Rolls Royce per se, from the push of a button, the door closed automatically. She was in awe.
Ava stared at him, he felt so calm, focused on his tab. She didn't know what his plan was, and so she asked, “When is the engagement?”
“Today, do you have a problem with that?” He asked.
“Not at all.”
They arrived at a large estate. It felt like a whole new world there, they passed several beautiful buildings and fields, and they drove for a while before arriving at the popular Starlight Event Centre, which she had only seen on TV.
When they got in, Alex directed her to change her outfit to something more presentable, and so did he.
They both came out of different dressing rooms, casting a glance at each other.
Ava wore an elegant off-shoulder red dress, with a slit skirt design. Revealing her delicate skin. Alex stood still for a moment, his indifferent gaze fell on her skin, before looking back up to her.
Alex on the other hand, wore a two-piece suit with high-end fabric which was custom-designed. It made his broad chest protrude. His hair was meticulously styled, complimenting his graciously handsome face. He also wore the same brand of the watch she had destroyed.
He held her hands as they approached a large door, and before they got there, the door was opened.
They stepped into a grand and opulent space, it had a polished marble floor, and its walls were adorned with rich tapestries and velvet drapes, it offered an unparalleled atmosphere of sophistication, exuding elegance and glamour.
Ava was introduced to Mrs Rebecca Sinclair, Alexander's mother, and she spoke eloquently about her son's achievements and her family's traditions.
When the ceremony was over, Mrs Rebecca led Ava around the hall, introducing her to some wealthy guests and family friends. She never believed she would be in their midst at any point in her life.
She approached the White Family and exchanged pleasantries. She noticed Emily's husband wasn't present and so she asked?
“Emily, where's your husband?”
The name ‘Emily’ stirred something deep inside Ava, she kept pondering about her until she discovered that she was her Ex's Wife. This meant that Henry was somewhere around the corner.
“I'm sorry ma'am, He got caught up in traffic.” She said, courteously.
Ava let out an inaudible sigh of relief, 'Phew!' She exclaimed, as the tension in her shoulders eased.
Suddenly, the door flung open and Henry Cooper walked in.
