LUCY POV
I paced the floor of my apartment, the test trembling in my hand. Two lines.Positive.
I sat on the edge of the couch, trying to breathe. This wasn’t part of the plan. I wasn’t supposed to call for him, and I definitely wasn’t supposed to get pregnant by him. But here I was his mistress, holding a secret that could change everything.
I didn’t know if he’d be angry. Or cold. Or worse, indifferent.
So when I heard the knock at my door, my heart almost dropped. It was him. I felt it.
I opened the door and there he was, Ethan, tall, broad and more intense than I’d seen him. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days. He didn’t say a word at first. I held up the test.
“I didn’t know how to tell you..”
He took it from my hand slowly, staring at the results like it was something sacred. Like it held all the answers.
Then to my absolute confusion he smiled. Not a small smile. Not a forced one. A real one. Wild. Unfiltered almost …reverent.
“You’re pregnant?” he asked, voice low and almost shaking.
I nodded, stunned.” Yeah. I , I don’t plan it, I swear.
He moved before I could react, closing the space between us in a heart beat, cupping my face in his hands.
“Lucy so you know what this means?”
“I..” I blinked “I mean you needed a baby, an heir. Is this good?”
“Good?” he repeated, his voice deepening. “This is everything.”
He kissed me like I was his future.
“You have no idea what you have just done,” he whispered against my lips “you’ve saved more than you know.”
I laughed nervously, trying to lighten the moment. Well, I’m glad someone’s excited. I thought you might faint.”
“I might,” he murmured. “From wanting you more than I ever have.”
His mouth was on mine again, this time urgent, raw. He lifted me like I weighed nothing carried me to the couch, and laid me down with reverence. Like I was something fragile and powerful at once.
“You think you needed a child?” He said between kisses. “No, Lucy. I needed you.”
His words melted into my skin. I arched into him, breathless, already unraveling beneath his touch.
“You’re going to be the mother of my child,”he said, almost in awe.” I promise you I will take care of you. Of both of you. No matter what it cost me.”
I should have been afraid of how serious he looked. How his voice turned dark when he said coats me. Maybe it was because of Maya? Now he has to tell her about the situation going on.
Ethan felt like mine. He made love to me slow and deep, his hand resting over my stomach like he was already guarding what we have made. Afterward, we lay there in silence, tangled up in each other.
He traced lazy circles on my skin and whispered things Ive never heard from him before.
“I’ve never wanted anything the way I want this,” he said “You, this baby. It’s more than a need Lucy, it’s fate.
I laughed softly.”You sound obsessed.”
His eyes gleamed. “ I am.”
But I didn’t know how deep the obsession ran, and for a moment I get like I was a part of the plan of so much bigger than I could understand.
Ethan’s POV
Lucy didn’t understand the joy I felt in my heart and she hadn’t even seen me before being that excited . Her belly was so small I couldn’t believe that she was going to give life to my offspring. Little did she know what she had done to my bloodline. I gazed at her face, so beautiful than ever and now pregnant with my child? The joy of being a dad in few months filled my heart. My little Alpha will be here in few months. I was ready to risk it all, Maya needed to know, Lucy had given me the best gift of my life time. I needed to tell my people that now we were expecting. And the family secret? When will I tell Lucy?
Wolves were only allowed to reveal the secret to their mate, if she’s a full human, after she gives birth. Maya didn’t know the family secret, I was ready to reveal myself to her in the first years of our marriage but our tradition said it was a taboo. Human only valued what they had. You reveal that you are a wolf they would start, sharing stigma or even harm you, just because you are different. But once they knew that their offspring is different too, they hush. That was why I had so much troubles with my bloodline. I always fancied humans, there was something special about them that I craved, maybe their humanity and charisma.
What exciting news to share to my father and grandfather. We were expecting! I touched her beautiful silky hair, the mother of my child. I can die for her but she had no idea. My heart sank. How will I break down this news to Maya? What if she harms herself or be forever depressed? This is the toughest thing to be a man, you always have to choose, and what is the most difficult part is that it doesn’t have to be about you, it has to be about everyone around you, people you cherish and care for. I couldn’t remember the last time I did something for myself! It had to be someone. It was a never ending story. I stared at her pretty face again, laying on my chest quietly, the desire for her becoming more and more. I couldn’t get enough of her.
My whole life I ha been missing something in someone. And now Lucy had it . Small but mighty. She kept tracing circles on my chest, and my beard, she didn’t want me to leave and for once in years, I wanted to stay in her bed, watch her, serve her, and most importantly protect her. She was bearing a generation, the only new wolf in our family. The only Alpha.
