Chapter 5

Zachary “How dare you? So this was all a game to you? I want you to get your things and get the f*ck out of my house right now you cold-hearted b*tch!” “And why are you driving your pregnant wife out of your house? Aren't you the cold-hearted one?” she asked relaxed as she continued sipping her glass of juice and focused on the movie she was seeing. “You lied about everything, you lied about the pregnancy and about Andrea having an affair, you are so evil. How could you do that to your best friend?” “I'm the evil one now? When you were f*king me you didn't know I was evil? When you chose me over Andrea you didn't know I was evil? Oh please, don't paint me like the black sheep when we both know you are worse.” Her words stung me, I realized that I sent out an angel and brought the devil into my house. I went upstairs, packed all her belongings, and brought them downstairs. “These are your things, I will ask my driver to take you to wherever you want to go, let me not come back and meet you in my house, or else I will have you locked up. You wouldn't want to give birth in Jail now, would you? Be expecting the divorce papers soon. I said to her and stormed out of the house. She couldn't utter any more words, she sat down in shock and couldn't take her eyes off me. ***** “Oh please, you think I would miss work because of a woman? I asked as I hissed. “I just needed some time to rest besides I get all the information from home, you remember I work from home right?” I continued. Adrien shook his head and sighed, “You know you can’t hide it man, I have known you since we were kids. Look at your face, you look miserable and I feel really bad for you.” “Why would you feel bad for me and what do you mean I look miserable? I look fine to me, and I’m done with this conversation.” “You want to push me away like you always do? Well, guess what? I’m not going anywhere and I will always tell you the truth man, what you did to Andrea was horrible, and sending her away was a wrong choice, You do know you can still look for her right?” “And why would I want to look for a woman I don’t love? Even if things didn’t work out with Nicole, there are so many girls out there for me, who doesn’t want a rich, famous, and handsome Zachary?” “You know you can't hide it from me, you looked so much better when you were still married to Andrea, that woman worships you. I can help you look for her but only if you want to. The more time you waste the more she drifts away from you, it's been what? Four years yeah?” His words sank into my mind, he knows me too much already. I sat down staring at the documents on my desk. Reminiscing all the times Andrea was there for me even when I treated her badly. “I have had people looking for her for over four years now and there has been no trace of her, I’m scared she won’t take me back if I eventually find her. I did terrible things to her and I don’t think I can face her, I just want to make sure she's alright.” I said as I rubbed my hands through my hair. “Let's worry about her not taking you back later, the important thing right now is to look for her, I will make a few calls and get back to you.” I have to work on myself to become a better man for her, “I'm so stupid, I threw away the woman of my dreams, someone who loves me unconditionally despite all my flaws.” How do I make this right? I thought to myself. I was jolted out of my thoughts by the ringing sound from my phone. I picked up my phone and looked at the screen which said unknown caller, I rejected the call and placed the phone back on the table and it kept ringing nonstop. It ranged four more times and I got so tired of it ringing that I had to pick it up. “Who's this?” The person didn't say anything, it was silent. “Now let me make this clear to you, if you have nothing important to say to me this should be the last time you call me” I was about to end the call when I heard someone crying from the other end of the phone. “Please Zachary, it's been four years now. Are you ever going to forgive me? Let's go back to how we used to be, I love you Zachary and I know you still love me.” “Oh please Nicole, this should be the last time you reach out to me and I will be needing those divorce papers back with your signature on it. We ended things years back and it should remain that way, understood?” I ended the call almost immediately. I got out of work and headed straight to the mall to get some groceries, ever since Andrea left and Nicole tried to make a fool out of me. I have learned how to focus on other areas of my life and handle my needs myself. I sat in my car, and I watched as people came out of the mall, some with their families, playing and having the time of their lives. I thought about Andrea, and how she begged me to allow her to keep the fourth pregnancy. I could see her puppy eyes and small lips, even when she was mad she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, tears clouded my eyes and my heart ached. I joined the queue at the counter waiting for it to get to my turn, and suddenly a little boy ran towards me and grabbed me laughing and breathing hard like he was being chased. “Hey, who are you here with?” I asked and he continued laughing trying to hide behind me, I wondered why he looked so much like me when I was little. “Hey George, don't you run off like that. You left mummy worried.” A woman said as she pulled him behind me and close to her. I turned and my heart sank to my stomach, I had no idea what to do. I just stared at her, my palms sweaty and shaking. “An…An.. Andrea.” I stuttered as I couldn't even hide how shocked I was to see her.
