[Aria's POV]
As soon as Asher left, I got up from the sofa and went to the bathroom to wash my legs and face. The warm water helped my eyes to fully awake and brushed my teeth. I looked down at myself in the mirror when I saw I messed up my shirt. Accidentally, the toothpaste fell on my clothes.
Since it was black, the stain on it was clearly visible. I could not go down in this condition. That's why I had to change my clothes first. Gosh!! It's so frustrating. I went to my wardrobe and picked a new dress and went back to the bathroom to change.
The new light blue dress I was wearing showed off my slender arms and shoulders nicely. It had a simple lace corset that hugged me just right, showing off my breasts.
I again looked into the mirror and saw my reflection one last time. My lips were a little swollen, but it would take more than a kiss for me to lose them all. And my hair was already done up in two braids, which meant they wouldn’t come undone, no matter how hard I tried.
My reflection smiled back at me. It felt weird. Like when you smile without knowing why, but your lips are just moving because they are the only part of you who's actually doing something. That's how I feel now. ‘I love it.’ I thought.
I went downstairs where I saw Asher and Dorian were already sitting at the dining table, waiting for me to join. I plaster the most beautiful smile on my face and walk to them.
“Where is my aunt?” I asked Asher because I knew Dorian would never reply to me. I took a seat in front of Dorian and set a plate for myself.
“Mom had a call from the town so she went there,” Asher replied as he poured me strawberry juice.
“When will she come?” I asked him and gave a silent look at Dorian, who was giving me a death stare. I gulped and changed my posture a little on my chair.
“Judging from the call, I think it's an emergency, so she won't be back for a few weeks,” he replied calmly. “Don't worry about her, she'll be fine and can take care of herself. You enjoy this meal.”
I bring my face close to the plate of fried chicken and inhale its fragrance. “It smells so good,” I said with a bright smile and a loud voice. “I hope it tastes good too.” I wink at him.
Asher looked at me and chuckled lightly.
“Enjoy your meal,” he said while eating his food. “Once again, congratulations on your job.”
I nodded, “Thank you,” and started eating my food. I felt Dorian's stare on my face. He didn't say anything and started eating his food in silence. We were all eating quietly when Asher pulled his arm towards my face. I looked at his hand holding a spoon full of nachos.
“What?” I asked in confusion.
“Here taste this, you're just eating fried chicken,” he said as he shoved the spoon into my mouth. The flavor of nacho cheese filled my mouth, it was delicious.
I chewed slowly while looking at him, who pulled his arm again towards me. I looked at his hand holding Nachos, then back at his eyes, and then the spoon. I grabbed his wrist and shoved it again in my mouth.
“Thanks,” I said with a smile.
Dorian's glare intensifies. I don't know why he is behaving like a jealous boyfriend. I ignored him and started eating from his hand. At least he fed me nachos. We were laughing and enjoying our dinner when I saw Dorian suddenly get up from his chair.
He didn't finish his plate. We both looked at him with questioning eyes, which he understood.
“I'm done,” he said and left.
“What happened to him?” I looked at Asher in confusion.
“Nothing, you just enjoy your food,” he replied with satisfaction on his face. “He has a small appetite.” I shrugged and finished my dinner. I started to clean the dining table when Asher stopped me. “You already had enough for today, just go and rest, so I can take care of all this,” he said.
After putting away the plates and silverware, I decided to head to my room to study the case. It's 9 o'clock and I have already slept a few hours. I put my feet on my bed and turn on the lamp on my nightstand.
I was busy with my work when I heard someone's footsteps outside my door.
I looked at the clock, and it was 1 am already. I just saw someone rotate the doorknob of my door and open it. My room was dark since I had just turned on the lamp for study.
“Asher?” I called him out. But he didn't reply and entered my room.
“What are you doing here?” I asked as I turned my face back towards my book. “It's already midnight. Or you have prepared another dish for me as a treat,” I chuckled.
Again there was no answer, but he slowly closed the door of my room and locked it from inside. I immediately turned my head and looked at him. My room was definitely dark, but not so dark that I couldn't tell the difference between Asher and Dorian.
It was Dorian who broke into my room in the middle of the night and locked the room from inside.
“What are you doing here?” I asked in panic. His eyes stared at me, not saying anything. His cold stare made chills run down my spine. I shivered slightly. Dorian was standing right in front of me, but I couldn't see any expression on his face. Not even one drop of emotion on those blank faces. It was scary seeing Dorian in such a state.
“You look so panicked, were you accepting Asher instead of me?” he asked me in a whisper.
“No…no…. I.... I didn't expect anyone,” I replied in a weak voice. I looked behind him at the locked door and quickly stood up from my bed and tried to open it, but he stopped me. I looked at him.
“Why did you lock the door from inside, Dorian?” His expression didn't give any sign that what I was saying even registered with him. He continued to stare at me without blinking.
“You like him?” he asked again. There was something in his voice that scared the s**t out of me.
“Like…hell no…" I quickly got a grip on my emotions and replied to him back in this tone. “I can never like a man again in my life after my heartbreak.”
“Oh I see then,” he sighs and then yells at me. “Then why are you eating food from his hand?” I smell alcohol from his breath. He has probably been drinking in his room since he left the table.
“Are you drunk?” I asked in surprise.
