  ELARA   So there I sat in silence swallowing saliva while they ate around me- gobbling down food while delicious aromas wafted through the air- how cruel could Gerald be? Why bring me here only to deny me a plate as if I were some dog?   I sniffed suddenly realizing tears had slipped from my eyes; it drew Gerald's attention.   "What is it?" he asked lowly; our proximity made it easy for me to hear him clearly despite everything else around us. My cheeks coloured red with embarrassment- I couldn't believe I'd cried over something so trivial.
