I caught the faint pounding of paws as he transformed and sprinted off. My eyes snapped open, staring blankly into the desolate space. The air was thick with the musty scent penetrating through the windows at the back. It was stinging dry, a hint of the approaching summer, and the leaves were beginning to return.
