Chapter 44: The Past You Don’t Know

*Claire* My head is throbbing. Each pulse of my heart sends a wave of nausea through me and makes my ears roar with blood. I think I'm sitting upright. Or am I tied lying down? My body shivers involuntarily as a ripping cold wind brushes over my exposed arms. My earlobes are burning and feel stiff. A lot of me feels stiff if I'm being honest. Could they be bruises? I'm trying to remember exactly what happened. Was I hit on the head? I don't remember. What was going on right before I was knocked unconscious? My car! That's right! My car was malfunctioning. There was a bunch of smoke coming out of my car, so I decided to walk back to my apartment. My heart starts beating faster as the memories start coming back. They're still fuzzy, but they are becoming clearer the longer I focus.
