CHAPTER 7 – VALHALLAThor and Erik continued on their way to Valhalla. It truly was an enormous castle, bigger than any Erik had ever seen.
Thor brought the goats to a halt and set them to graze by one of the wide entrances. “Come,” he said and led Erik inside.
They entered a gigantic hall with a large bonfire blazing in the middle of the room. Around the fire were endless rows of benches and tables, with beautiful women running back and forth with knives and goblets in preparation for dinner. This must be where the fallen Vikings held their feasts.
“Who are those ladies?” Erik asked.
“They are the Valkyries. Odin would dispatch them when the Vikings went off on warring raids in the old days. Their job was to select the men who died honourably in battle and bring them back to Valhalla.
