Marwan headed towards his bedroom, thinking back to the days when, on returning home from school, he would go straight to his room and throw his bag on his bed before running to the kitchen in search of some snack; he was always famished after school. As he neared the bedroom, he noticed that the door was ajar. His steps quickened, he could hear a light snore. Sound asleep, fully clothed and with lips slightly parted, a young man occupied his bed. Strange that he should still think of the bed as his, but he did. The young man had not bothered removing the bedcover on which he lay on his stomach, face towards the door. Not daring to enter the room lest he disturb its young occupant, Marwan remained in the doorway, noticing that, but for the bedcovers on the two beds, nothing had changed
