First Glance

It was already midnight , the sun had sank hours ago . A night owl is hooting somewhere in the distance , while insects and nocturnal creatures began to stir adding their own sounds to the mix .

“Would I have been living a different life if only I wasn’t cursed? I’m living for everything , for everyone except for myself . Am I happy?”

Suddenly the wolf inside me answers, “This is your only life . You live for your clan . You live to protect them . You live to protect the throne.”

He took a long breath and kept walking towards the abandoned palace .

“Long live the Alpha” the royal astrologer greets Ethan bowing his head.

“We could have talked at the palace . Is there any special reason for calling me up here ?”

He sits on the wooden floor gesturing the astrologer to sit down.

The royal astrologer looks at the stars in the sky and draws a sign on a paper . “The full moon , the stars are agreeing with you Alpha . Your fiancé I mean Laura is not your Luna.”

“I was right ! She can’t be my Luna . How can I prove her wrong in front of my clan ?”

“She’s not any mere female werewolf. She’s powerful. She has her plans . It won’t be easy for you. For now on postponed your wedding. I’ll do the rest .” He passes Ethan a peice of paper in a red envelope .

“Follow the given instructions. You will find her, the one who is responsible for your curse also the one who can take you out of it .”

“What you mean ?”

“She’s is your destined Luna” the astrologer says tapping the envelope .

The entire forest is covered in darkness. In that darkness the eyes of the wolves the eyes of the wolves are glowing like an active volcano.

Suddenly a wolf growls fiercely and assumes the form of a male human .

Genelia says , “Who are you ? What you want from me ?”

The wolf looked away without answering her . Genelia followed his sight and became nervous because she told Sam and Jecinthe to run that way .

“A mere human can’t fulfill our hunger.” He said approaching her .

From behind another wolf takes the form of a young man .He came forward and asked the previous wolf “What’s your plan Alpha ?”

“ No one should be hungry today . Your prey is here . I have found mine .” He took the form of his previous self and proceeded towards his prey .

“Leave my children . Kill me . Please !” Genelia begs but it was already too late .

Jeci and Liam are both running in the middle of the jungle without knowing where they are heading towards .

“I can’t run anymore Jeci . My legs hurts . Where are we going ? Where’s mom ?” Liam asked sobbing uncontrollably.

“Sam my little sunshine run just a little more . We will reach granny’s house soon . Trust me” she said wiping off his tears .

“Can I help you find the way ?” A man asked from behind .

Both of them looked at his direction. The man was standing few feet’s away from them . She breathed a sigh of relief thinking someone would help them now . As she raised the lantern to see his face and realises his eye’s weren’t like normal human beings . Those blood red eyes reminded her of that night when she lost her father . Those beasts killed her father in front of her own eyes .

She turns to Sam and says “You have to run now . As far as possible. You won’t look back . Promise me .”

“I’m scared Jeci. Please don’t leave me .”

“I’ll bring mom with me . I’ll find you . We don’t have time .” Jeci says beckoning him to run away.

Jecinthe never felt this helpless. After that night ,today was the most cruelest and longest night of her life . She lost her mom and brother today . It’s better to be dead than to be alive . She thought .

After Sam left she tried to get up but failed as her leg was cut quite a bit on the side of her thigh . “You are not human . Who are you ?” She asked fearlessly.

The man leans over and sucks the blood from the corner of Jeci’s lips and says ,

“Shhh! You’re going to die soon . Save some energy baby girl . I never leave my prey alive . ”

“What do you think ? I’ll beg you for my life ? Kill me . Right now !” She says pushing him away .

“I do like your attitude. I’m fascinated by you , I won’t give you such an easy death . I want you . I want you everyday. I want you until my addiction is over .”

“Leaving me alive will be the worst decision of your life I bet . I’ll destroy you.”

He smiles looking at her . His smile was the best Jecinthe had seen among the men throughout her life . If it was any regular day she would have definitely fallen for his smile . But today she hates him , his smile and his existence.
