Life in our Universe comes in many shapes and sizes, from simple cells to complex organisms, some of it even quite intelligent – which can be a problem. For there’s a limit to how smart a species can get. At some point in its evolution, one of its individuals – some well-meaning genius – will come up with an idea that buggers everything up.
LOn Earth, that well-meaning genius was retired physics professor, Geoffrey Grogan, and his species-buggering idea came to him on a quiet October morning in 2029. He had no inkling of just how dangerous his notion was – both for himself and for humanity. Indeed, it nearly bumped him off the moment he thought of it, and it would have been better for Humankind if it had done so, before he was able to act on it.
