GOOD DEAL

DANTE: I stare at my reflection in the mirror, adjusting the silk tie around my throat. It feels like a noose. My head is pretty much a mess even after one week of Romeo’s funeral. The fact it could have been any of us cannot leave my head. Coupled with that, my daughter Tamara graduates this week. My not so little girl, that I shielded from the filth of this life, is coming home. This time she is coming to take her seat on one of the establishments. She knows about Raven, and I do not think she has taken it too well. Raven, on the other hand, doesn’t even know I have a daughter. I have to sneak off at night to take her calls. “Dante?” Raven calls out, and I peer at her through the mirror. She’s propped up against the pillows, holding a book which I doubt she has read a single word.
