RAVEN: For a heartbeat, the world goes silent and my body freezes. My hands hover in the air, unable to move, as Mary kisses me. I do not kiss her back, and I push to break from the paralysis. Once it wears off, I slam my palms against her chest, shoving her back. I stumble against the balcony railing, the cold iron biting into my lower back. “What the f**k!” I yell as my heart pounds hard in my chest. Mary stumbles back, her eyes wide.
