RAVEN
The next time I open my eyes, I am lying beside a stack of muscles. A scream almost tears through my lips as I notice I am naked. The faint memories from a couple of hours ago flood my mind, and my eyes remain on the man lying beside me, snoring softly. His body is beautiful, but there are a lot of scars on it.
When I remember Axel, my eyes widen, and I jump out of bed, sneaking back into my room. Luckily, I find it empty. I hurriedly get dressed. Just as I am done, a knock comes to the door, and I open it to see two guards waiting.
“Ma’am, you need to come with us now.”
Before I can resist, they drag me down the hall and shove me into a car, taking me back to Axel’s mansion before the break of dawn. I am back in my old room. The sound of the gates opening makes me rush to the window. He gets down from the car, and he is approached by a man.
“Miss Raven is back to the house, sir, and everything is in place. The guest house is set to blow up any minute from now.”
“Good,” he says, marching towards the house.
“But there is a problem.” Axel halts with his brows drawn down as the man says this. “I got a call from the club we booked the hooker from. They were offering to send someone if it is not too late. According to them, she got into an accident yesterday evening.”
My blood runs cold as the man says this.
“Then who the f**k did…” Axel barely finishes when his eyes trail upstairs, catching mine. I slide down at once, and the next thing I hear are his thunderous boots slamming through the floors of the house.
My heart pounds through my chest, but there is nothing I can do. I am on the fifth floor, and jumping would mean falling to my death. But to think of it, what could be worse? As I attempt to rush to the balcony, the door to my room slams open, and Axel grabs a handful of my hair, dragging me to his chest.
“You had s*x with the fucker?” he yells, and I stare at him, shaking my head. “Don’t you f*****g lie to me!” He slams me against the wall, raising his hand.
I shut my eyes with my heart in my throat, waiting for the impact, but it never happens. He lets out a maniacal chuckle, gripping my jaw and wedging his leg between my thighs.
“We are even now,” he rasps in a low voice, kissing my face. I try to look away, but he keeps me in position. “You have no right to judge me or make me feel bad for the decisions I have made. You slept with another man, and I proposed to another woman.”
“It is not the same thing! I was drunk!”
“You are right, it is f*****g worse. I have an empire to run, and I didn’t have s*x with someone else!” He lets go of me. Then he claps his hands. “If it is the marriage you want, then fine, Raven. I will marry you.” He glares at me. “Today. Once the sun rises.”
My eyes widen as my lifetime dream sounds like a f*****g nightmare. Trapped in marriage with a maniac who clearly needs a mental asylum.
“Half my problem is solved, and I can marry you undercover while I solve the rest. That means you will be tied to me, my precious.” He pulls me to his chest, caging me to him with his hands gripping my waist.
My pulse rises so hard I swear I will have a heart attack, but then the door bursts open.
“Axel!” Jade’s shrill voice pierces the room.
Without waiting, she charges towards me with venom in her eyes.
“You b***h! Why won’t you just leave?” She lunges, her hand raised to strike me, but Axel pushes her back.
She stumbles with her eyes wide in shock, fear written on her face. I too am shocked, because I never expected him to defend me.
“What are you still doing with her? We are set to wed, Axel! She cannot offer you anything, and—”
“I have kept my part of the bargain. Propose to you in front of your family, and we will have a wedding, Jade,” he cuts her off with a sneer.
“You seem to have forgotten who gave you the power!”
He lets out a chuckle, gripping my hand and pushing me behind him while he stands in front of her.
“You would never have ruled the Black Vultures even if you tried. You are a woman, Jade, and you should be glad I agreed to this deal in the first place. If not, you would have f*****g lost the title to your cousin, Arthur.” He continues, “This is a f*****g contract, so stop acting like we are in love!” His eyes land on mine, and I pray a mythical force strikes me dead.
Anything would be better than getting caught in this madness.
Jade slaps him hard in the face.
“If it is a contract, then act like one, you prick!” she yells as he holds his face.
His eyes blaze with fury. “Out.”
She squints her eyes for a second before letting out a scoff and walking out of the room.
Axel turns back to me, and I expect him to come for me, but he turns back to the man in the room with us.
“Get me the wedding dress I bought for her, and the ring too. Since you are impatient, we will have a small wedding like you have always wanted.”
“Axel, you cannot…”
He takes out a gun, pointing it at me. I feel my legs buckle, and I almost pee my pants.
“Sit,” he c***s his head toward the bed.
I walk towards it gently, sitting.
Shortly, the man arrives with the dress, and by now my body is as pale as that of a ghost, with my palms sweaty.
“Put it on, and do not make me f*****g repeat myself.”
My hands tremble as I grab the dress, trying it on while praying someone comes through to save me. The man with him gets a call as I try the dress on.
“Sir, the guest house has been blown up,” he says.
