Chapter 96

960 Words

Reflections and Secrets POV: Diana The mirror didn’t move. No face appeared. No whisper. No flicker of shadow behind the glass. Just the simple quiet reflection of our room lit by the distant moon and the soft glow of Cael’s nightlight. But still, I felt it. Not a presence. A chill. It started at the base of my spine and crept its way up curling around my neck like a frozen vine. I stood there frozen, holding Cael as tightly as my shaking arms would allow, staring at the thing that wasn’t supposed to hold more than reflections. And then it changed. No image just sensation. My hand reached out on its own. Stupid. Reckless. But desperate. I pressed my palm to the surface. It didn’t feel like glass. It felt like skin. Warm. Throbbing. Alive. I yanked my hand back with a gasp.
