Chapter 2: Awakening in Mystery

The sun streamed through the windows, lighting up the room as Alexa slowly woke up the next morning. She felt strange,she was curious, excited and also a lingering sense of confusion. The dinner with Lorian had been more than she expected. He had been charming and candid, but she still couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something more to his sudden interest in her.

Stretching, Alexa got out of bed and made her way to the kitchen. She brewed a pot of coffee, hoping it would help clear her head. As she sipped her coffee, she replayed the previous evening in her mind. Lorian had apologized for the abrupt interview and the confusion that followed. He had explained that he was impressed with her, but there were other factors at play.

"What factors?" Alexa muttered to herself. She just couldn't understand why someone as powerful as Lorian Ravenscroft would be interested in her beyond a simple job interview. The flowers, the dinner, it all seemed so personal.

Her phone buzzed on the counter, snapping her out of her thoughts. It was a text from Mia.

Mia: How was dinner with Mr. Mysterious?

Alexa smiled and quickly replied.

Alexa: It was good. He apologized for the interview and explained a bit about himself.

Mia: Ooh, sounds intriguing. Are you going to see him again?

Alexa's heart raced as she read the email. An opportunity? What could it be? She quickly replied, agreeing to meet him the next evening.

Alexa's eyes widened. This was exactly what she had read about. How did he know she just read about that? "What kind of technology?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
