You're Mine

Alicia stepped across the threshold, the heavy mahogany door clicking shut behind her, sealing out the silent corridor of The Vegna Vault. She was plunged into near-total darkness. The VIP suite was vast, heavy with the scents of aged whiskey, cold rain, and an unsettling, masculine aroma that made her skin flush with a sudden, traitorous heat. The only light came from a soft, amber glow hidden behind heavy silk drapes along the far wall, leaving the center of the massive room submerged in deep, suffocating shadow. "Stand by the velvet armchair, carina." The voice shattered the silence like ice cracking over deep water. It was shockingly deep, a quiet, gravelly baritone that vibrated through the dark room, bypassing her mind and striking directly at her instinct. Alicia froze, a violent shiver running down her spine. The voice carried an easy, absolute dominance. Her heart hammered against her ribs, but against all logic, her body traitorously ignited at the sound—a foreign sensation of submission pooling deep in her stomach. She forced her feet to move, stepping toward the high-backed velvet chair in the center of the room. In the corner shadows sat the silhouette of a massive man. He was leaning back in a deep leather armchair, his long legs crossed at the ankle. A crystal glass of amber liquid rested in his right hand. Even in the dim light, she could sense the sheer size of him—a towering, dangerous shadow watching her every breath. "Strip," the voice commanded from the dark. Alicia’s hands shook as she reached up, pulling the silver clip from her brown hair. It cascaded over her shoulders and bare chest in soft, messy waves. From the shadows came the slow, deliberate sound of ice clinking against glass. "Step into the amber light," he ordered. His tone wasn't loud, but it carried an unquestionable authority. "Let me look at what my money has bought." Alicia stepped toward the low ambient lamp. The warm glow washed over her, highlighting the delicate porcelain of her skin, the honey-amber of her large eyes, and the single silk strap of her burgundy gown slipping slowly down her arm. She hated how exposed she felt, yet under his unseen, intense gaze, a strange, burning tension and anticipation kept her feet glued to the floor. "Beautiful," the shadow murmured. "A delicate little songbird, begging in the dark. Tell me, songbird... why are you here?" "I... I need the retainer payout," Alicia whispered, her voice trembling. "My father... he owes a debt. A very dangerous debt." "Ah. A debt," the man drawled smoothly. He took a slow sip of his drink. "And you are willing to sell your body to a stranger just to save a man's life? How noble. How utterly foolish." Alicia bit her lower lip, fighting back tears of humiliation. "Please... I signed the contract. I will do whatever you ask. Just... fulfill the payment." A heavy silence settled over the room. Then, the sound of leather creaking filled the air as the massive silhouette slowly stood up. He moved like a predator, completely silent despite his size. He stepped out of the pitch-black corner, his heavy leather shoes clicking softly against the marble floor as he approached the circle of amber light. "You said you were experienced in your application," the voice purred, closer now. "You lied to Madam Vivienne, didn't you?" Alicia’s breath hitched. "I—" "Your pulse is racing in your throat. Your hands are shaking. You have never been touched by a man in your life," he said, stopping just inches outside the light ring. "Yet, here you stand, offering yourself to the dark." "I have to," she choked out, looking toward the shadow where his eyes should be. "If I don't get three million euros by the seventh day... a monster is going to kill my father." "A monster?" The shadow stepped fully into the warm light. Alicia’s heart stopped. The breath was stolen directly from her lungs as the light illuminated his face. Damp, jet-black hair fell messily over a sharp, marble forehead. A harsh, chiseled jawline gave way to a high, straight nose, and beneath it sat a cruel, beautiful mouth. His white dress shirt had the top buttons undone, the sleeves rolled up to his thick forearms—revealing dark, intricate tattoo ink creeping down his wrist and across the back of his right hand. And his eyes—an intense, icy blue, filled with absolute, terrifying possession—stared directly down into hers. Julian D’Cruz. Alicia stumbled backward, her hand flying to her mouth as a gasp escaped her lips. "Y-You..." Julian didn't blink. A slow, dark smirk touched the corner of his lips as he set his whiskey glass down on the side table. He closed the distance between them in a single stride, his massive, looming frame completely swallowing her beneath his shadow. Before she could run, his large, inked hand reached out, his long fingers gently but firmly wrapping around her delicate jaw, tilting her face up toward his cold gaze. "Did you really think you could hide from me, mia carina?" Julian whispered, his thumb lightly pressing against her trembling bottom lip. "Is this how you planned to pay off your father's debt?" "No... please," Alicia sobbed softly, her mind screaming at her to fight him, even as her body shivered under the electric heat of his touch. "I... I signed a contract with the Vault. Not with you. I will pick another client—" "There are no other clients," Julian interrupted smoothly, his icy eyes darkening with an all-consuming obsession. He pulled a thick, black leather folder from his inner coat pocket and dropped it onto the table beside them. "An hour ago, I exercised the Vault’s Exclusive Retainer clause. I bought your contract outright. Every piece of paper you signed tonight belongs to me." "No!" Alicia pulled against his grip, but his fingers held her face with unbreakable iron strength. "My father's debt is three million euros! Once this service is paid, I am free!" Julian leaned down, his lips brushing against the shell of her ear as his deep voice sent a wave of liquid fire straight down her spine. "Read the fine print, little girl," he murmured darkly. "Your father's ruined shipment cost me far more than three million euros. The three-month clause is gone. You signed an open-ended binding agreement." He pulled back slightly, staring down into her wide, panicked amber eyes with absolute triumph. "Until I personally decide that your father's debt is paid in full, you belong to me," Julian declared, his inked hand moving down from her chin to wrap firmly around her slender waist, pulling her flush against his broad chest. "You leave this place tonight, and you move into my estate. As my personal, exclusive companion. Indefinitely."
