Facing Challenges Together

579 Words
After a few weeks of dating, Nad and Ars were already starting to feel like they had been together for much longer. They had fallen into a comfortable routine of seeing each other regularly and texting constantly. But as they got closer, they also began to face new challenges as a couple. One of the first obstacles they encountered was their different work schedules. Nad was a nurse who worked long, unpredictable hours at a hospital, while Ars worked a typical 9-5 office job. They quickly realized that finding time to see each other was going to be a challenge. One evening, as they were cuddled up on the couch watching a movie, Nad brought up the topic. "I really like spending time with you, but it's hard when our schedules are so different," she said, tracing circles on Ars' chest. "I know," Ars replied, wrapping his arm around her. "But we'll figure it out. We just have to be flexible." Nad smiled up at him. "You're right. I'm just worried that we won't see each other enough." "We will," Ars promised. "Even if it's just for a quick coffee or lunch break. We'll make it work." As the weeks went on, Nad and Ars continued to encounter challenges in their relationship. They had disagreements about everything from how to split the bill at dinner to where to go on vacation. But each time, they worked through their issues together. One particularly difficult moment came when Nad's ex-boyfriend unexpectedly showed up at her apartment. Nad was home alone when she heard a knock at the door. She peeked through the peephole and saw her ex standing on the other side. Nad froze. She hadn't spoken to him since their painful breakup, and she wasn't sure what he wanted. She debated whether to answer the door, but before she could decide, the doorbell rang. Nad's heart was pounding as she made her way to the door. She opened it slowly, expecting the worst. "Hey," her ex said, smiling awkwardly. Nad's heart sank. She had been hoping he would just go away. "What do you want?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. "I just wanted to talk," he said, stepping closer. Nad took a step back. "I don't think that's a good idea," she said firmly. Her ex sighed. "Look, I know I messed up. I just wanted to apologize." Nad felt a surge of anger. "You think an apology is going to fix everything?" she snapped. "After everything you put me through?" Her ex looked chastened. "I know I hurt you. But I just wanted to say I'm sorry." Nad shook her head. "It's too late for that. I've moved on." With that, she closed the door in his face. She leaned against it, breathing heavily. It had taken all her strength not to break down in front of him. But as she turned around, she saw Ars standing in the hallway, looking concerned. "I heard shouting," he said, stepping towards her. Nad's eyes filled with tears as she threw herself into his arms. "It was my ex," she said, sobbing. "He showed up out of nowhere." Ars held her tightly. "It's okay," he murmured. "I'm here." They stayed like that for a long time, until Nad had calmed down enough to talk about what had happened. Ars listened patiently as she recounted the encounter. "I'm sorry you had to deal with that," he said, stroking her hair.
