Nad and Ars had been dating for a few months now, and things had been going great between them. They had gone on many dates and had grown even closer. But like any couple, they had their moments of disagreement.
One day, they were at a restaurant, and Nad noticed Ars had been on his phone the whole time, not really engaging in the conversation. She couldn't help but feel a little hurt and ignored.
Nad: "Is everything okay? You seem a little distracted."
Ars: "Yeah, I'm fine. Just checking some emails."
Nad: "Okay, but I feel like you're not really here with me. It's like you're not interested in talking to me."
Ars: "I am interested in talking to you, Nad. I'm just a little busy right now."
Nad: "I understand that, but we hardly get to see each other, and I feel like you're not present when we are together."
Ars: "I'm sorry, Nad. You're right. I'll put my phone away."
Nad: "No, you don't have to put it away. I just want you to be here with me, in the moment."
Ars: "I understand. I'm sorry I made you feel that way."
Nad: "It's okay. I just want to make sure we're both on the same page."
Ars: "Of course, we are. I care about you a lot, and I don't want you to ever feel like I'm not present when we're together."
They continued their meal, and the rest of the night was great. However, Nad couldn't shake off the feeling of being ignored earlier, and it was bothering her. Later that night, they were texting each other before bed.
Nad: "I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed tonight, but earlier, it felt like you weren't interested in talking to me."
Ars: "I'm sorry, Nad. I didn't mean to make you feel that way."
Nad: "I know, but it just hurt a little. I want us to be able to communicate our feelings, even if they're not always positive."
Ars: "You're right. I'll try to be more present when we're together."
Nad: "I appreciate that, Ars. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining or anything. I just want us to have a healthy relationship, where we can be honest with each other."
Ars: "I understand. I care about you, Nad, and I want us to have a healthy relationship too."
Nad: "I know you do. I care about you too, Ars."
They said their goodnights and drifted off to sleep, feeling grateful for their ability to communicate and work through their issues.
The next day, Ars surprised Nad with flowers and a heartfelt note, apologizing for his behavior the night before. Nad was touched by his gesture and knew that he truly cared about her and their relationship.
From that moment on, they made a conscious effort to be present when they were together and to communicate their feelings openly and honestly. Their small fight had only brought them closer together, and they were more in love than ever before.
