There was a knock on the door when I was pulled out of my train of thoughts. The door was pushed open and Patrick and Karen entered. I glanced at Aiden and he understood my plea.
“Pat, let the women have their time. Let’s go and get some coffee. I need to work late.” Aiden casually commented and took Patrick out of the room.
“Emerald, I’m so happy that you called me out to see you. I was so surprised and just… I couldn’t believe it was you, indeed.” Karen commented as she sat on the chair next to the bed. I gave her an awkward face.
“Why didn’t you come earlier to visit me?” I asked her, out of genuine interest. Karen was quite caring towards me though I had never given her a chance to take care of me.
