Word for the day - 꿈 (Romanized as ‘Kkum’) – Dream. ##### EMERALD’S POV ----- I was driving towards the downtown illegal racing track. I was thrilled about today’s session because ‘Black’ was back after a whole month. He was my single and eternal opponent. I loved to race him because whenever we were on the track, the bet was elevated to the highest point offering me the loftiest win. Also, only he has defeated me, once, in my life and vice versa, but quite a few times in his case. “Black must’ve been waiting for your arrival,” Miranda commented and I smirked. She had her share of heart-throbbing race feels while our match goes on. “I was, too. I love the spark-defeat relationship we have.” I remarked and she shook her head. She was about to say something when I saw a black Ferrari tailing us and trying to catch up with me. Oh, how I loved this model! Too bad I had to defeat it. “Oh, he yearns to race,” I hummed in anticipation. A little warm-up wouldn’t hurt me. It was his pride that was going to take the blow, anyway. “M, I’ve got a plan,” I asserted with a wink and her eyes twinkled in enthusiasm. To carry out the plan, I had to attain next to him so I reduced my speed slowly, not making it evident to him. I rolled down the windows on Miranda’s side and let out a loud whistle, grabbing their attention from the silent night when only our cars were roaring. He pulled his window down and was surprised to see us. He sure had a charming face. “He’s sexy.” Miranda mouthed and I shook my head to control her dirty thoughts. I could hear her purr from her voice. She had taken a liking to that guy and most presumably desired to spend the night with him. “Oh, sexy ladies!” He sang in a teasing manner. I glanced ahead to see the flyover arriving in about a minute. I only had that much time. “You are sexy, too,” I muttered loudly. Miranda turned to face him and stuck her face in a sexy way, teasing him. “Would you mind if I give you my number?” Miranda asked, seductively completely showing her intentions to him, most of them being true and not an act. “There is no denial.” He answered and Miranda immediately pulled out a paper and pen from the small dock. She scribbled on it before showing me. “In your dreams, honey.” “Quick.” I hurried her as I closed some distance so the chit would make it to their car. We needed something solid and the only thing that came in front of my eyes was my favourite lipstick which was on the dashboard. I grabbed it up and handed it to her. “It’s your fav,” Miranda noted but I motioned her to throw it. She wrapped the paper around the lipstick and threw it in their window, landing it correctly. The one in the passenger’s seat picked the chit and I tried to lure him towards the road and he turned a bit. “What the hell?” He shrieked and I inferred he must’ve seen the chit. “Try competing with people of your league.” I taunted him and pressed on the accelerator changing the gears and taking off the flyover when he happened to have gone down or more like pushed down the lane by me. “Wanted to race me, huh!” I grumbled and did a victory smirk, shutting Miranda’s window. “When can we quit doing that?” Miranda asked, feigning innocence as if she was really sad about losing that guy. Maybe a little. “I don’t think ever,” I countered and she winked. “But he was hot. If only I got a chance to have one night with him or many nights. How dreamy.” She fantasized about the guy and I had to agree, he was eye candy. "You day as if I didn't hear your kink in your voice," I commented and she smirked at me, clearly indicating that my conclusions were perfect. "If not this, then probably another eye candy. Too many flavours available." She answered and I laughed. She was a master at this game. “Now, let’s have my only eye candy,” I announced and she nodded. ----- We reached the racing track and I arranged my car on the ready line, before getting to the waiting stand. Currently, Miranda’s and my face was covered in a black mask. Also, my car number plate was hidden so no one could find me. We kept our identities hidden and I was just called ‘Brown’. When I won the first match of my life, I was asked my name. Being the confused little girl I was, I had no clue what to name myself in such an emergent situation since I had to keep my identity a secret. My hair flew on my face and I looked at the prominent brown colour and gave it my as pseudo name. Since then, I was called 'Brown' on the race track. “Brown,” I heard my name and turned to see Black dressed in his regular leather jacket and pants outfit. “Black,” I responded and looked at him. Just like his name, his pupils were black, too. “Are you ready to lose?” He questioned and I let out a chuckle. “Stop stealing my lines,” I countered and he smirked. “Arrogant as always. You’ve also gotten more narcissistic since the last time I saw you.” He commented and I nodded. “Continuously winning this whole month has been boosting my narcissism.” I retorted and he laughed. “Let’s see if it goes down today or not.” He challenged me and I blinked my eyes at him, taking one step closer to him. “I think… not,” I whispered and then stepped away, walking towards the racing track. Not moments later, Black followed me reaching towards his car which was next to mine. “I heard the bet has been the highest of this month,” Black yelled before sitting in his car. “Then I should be the one taking it,” I asserted and soon there was a loud honk, indicating we were to start the race in the next ten seconds. I gripped the steering wheel and roared with the accelerator. I glanced at Black and gave him a curt nod while he returned me one. “3…2…1…GO!” A loud voice on the speaker blasted and I pushed the accelerator and removed my leg from the brake. My car roared and shoved itself to its full speed. A curve was ahead and I couldn’t let him push me on the inner side. I pushed hard and took the outer side. Soon, I was leading like usual. Black was trying to overtake me but I wasn’t going to give him the chance to do so. We finished two laps and there was one more curve that I had to take care of to win this. I peered to my left and Black was on neck par with me. I had to strategize. I slowed down my car a little, gaining a little grip and letting Black think that he was about to beat me. Once I knew the timing was perfect, I took the curve and then pressed on the speed hard like nothing else matters and pulled the hand brakes when I hit the finish line. I made a big drift, making all the dust fly in the air. I heard roars and cheers under my name and I knew I had won this. I got out of the car when the dust had finally settled down. Black got down the car and glanced at me. He had come second. “Told you so.” I teased before walking up to the stage to collect my cheque. Black followed me and stood next to me on the left and there was another racer who came third, on my right. “Cheers for Brown!” The MC called out and they roared again. “Congratulations again, Brown!” The MC cheered me on and I nodded, taking the cheque from him. I glanced at the big five digits and felt bliss. “Thank you all for your support! Don’t forget to come to see me win next time!” I gave them a happy speech and glanced at Black, in a challenging manner. He understood my hint and nodded in agreement. “Vacate,” The MC told us and we understood that it was time we raced out of here now. The three of us took the hint and rushed towards our cars. Miranda ran close to me and then followed me to the car. “See you soon, Brown,” Black proclaimed and I gave him a thumbs-up, agreeing to his words. Soon, he and I both started our cars before pressing hard on the gas, drifting out of the race track with roars. “Another sexy exit,” Miranda commented with a squeal. “Told you so,” I smirked and we left to celebrate the five-digit cheque. ----- “Hey, Hayden, you’re still at the bar?” I asked him as soon as he answered the call. “It’s me, Lincoln.” I got the response. “Where is Hayden?” I asked and he sighed. “He’s wasted so I’m taking him home. So, we won’t be accompanying you tonight.” Lincoln explained and I hummed. “I won again so I wanted to celebrate!” I whined and he chuckled. “I’m tired of celebrating your wins. Let’s celebrate when you lose the next time. See you later, Em.” He insisted and hung up the call. “And then he says I’m rude.” I scoffed, glaring at the phone. “Seems like we have a lot of money to spend on drinking,” I cheered to Miranda and she squealed. We were already in the underground parking of the bar. Well, this bar was owned by Dad so we had good access to all the spaces here. “Em, you think Jerry will not rat us out this time?” Miranda asked as I parked the car in the spot. “I believe he won’t. I had given him a nice scare last time.” I rationalised to Miranda and she nodded. Jerry was the only way because if Dad would come to know about my car being parked here, I was facing hell. I couldn’t even blame Hayden on this because before Dad, I would kill him for touching my precious baby. We both got down the car and Jerry was right in the front. I tossed the keys to him and he caught it with trembling hands. Nonetheless, he did look scared. “Don’t make me pull the stunt again,” I warned him and he nodded, frantically. I had almost driven my car on him and his manager because they ratted me out. “Good boy,” I muttered and sent him a flying kiss. Even Miranda did the same and we both ended up laughing. “Don’t worry, I’ll send him a drink,” I said to Miranda and she nodded. ----- We both sat in a booth and drank a lot of scotch. It was one of my favourites. I was celebrating my victory and there was no stopping it. I wanted to get wasted because there were a few things that I wanted to forget but didn’t seem like it was working well. Kayla and her wedding plans. “I think I need to get laid tonight,” Miranda commented and I chuckled. If I liked getting wasted she liked getting laid. “Let’s find someone hot who can match your heat.” I teased her and we both scanned the room in our mental stupor state. My eyes landed on a guy who sat at a table. “Em, that’s a hottie.” She slurred and pointed at a guy. I looked at the guy for a few seconds because he looked familiar. I glanced back at Miranda who was still looking at him. “He was the earlier sexy loser!” I told her and blinked her eyes at me. Once she understood what I meant, her face lit up. She seemed too happy to still have a chance with a hottie whom I had defeated. “Bye, love. I love you.” Miranda muttered leaving me with a drunken kiss on my cheek and bravely walking towards the table. I shook my head and cleared it of the haze that formed on my brain. I needed some water so I decided to go to the bar counter because Miranda was not coming back anyway. It took me a while but I finally reached the bar counter. “Get me some chilled water,” I instructed him and he nodded. As I lingered there, I heard a very familiar tone beside me. I whirled at a flash speed when I realised it was a ringtone of ‘Siren’ by Sunmi, my all-time favourite. The guy silenced the call and then his eyes fell on me and I only had one response to it. “꿈.” I breathed.
