THE SHAPE SHIFTER WHO CHOOSE HER The café lights flickered again. Jasmine quickly pulled her hands away from Hazel as if she had touched fire. Her heart was racing so fast she could barely breathe. “See?” Jasmine said nervously. “It’s just faulty electricity.” But Hazel wasn’t looking at the lights. She was staring directly at Jasmine. “No,” Hazel said quietly. “That wasn’t electricity.” Sarah leaned against the counter, folding her arms with a small grin. “I knew it,” she said. “Ever since she walked in here, something about her energy has been… different.” Jasmine rubbed her temples. “Can someone please explain what you two are talking about?” Hazel stepped closer again, studying Jasmine like a puzzle she desperately wanted to solve. “You’ve lived your entire life believing you have no wolf,” Hazel said gently. Jasmine nodded slowly. “Yes.” “And yet,” Hazel continued, “there is an aura around you that even powerful witches struggle to contain.” Jasmine shook her head. “That’s impossible.” Before anyone could respond, the café door suddenly burst open. A tall young man stepped inside, rain dripping from his dark coat. His sharp blue eyes scanned the room quickly… until they landed on Jasmine. And then he froze. The air around him shifted. Hazel’s expression darkened immediately. “Well,” she muttered. “This just got interesting.” The man slowly walked forward, his gaze locked on Jasmine like she was the only person in the room. Jasmine felt strangely nervous under his intense stare. “Uh… can I help you?” she asked cautiously. The man stopped a few feet away from her. For a moment he didn’t speak. Then he said something that made everyone in the room go silent. “I finally found you.” Jasmine blinked in confusion. “Found me?” He nodded slowly. “My name is Astrid.” His voice was calm, but there was something powerful behind it. “And I’ve been searching for you for a very long time.” Sarah raised an eyebrow. “Searching for a waitress?” she teased. Astrid ignored her completely. His eyes never left Jasmine. “You may not know who you are yet,” he said quietly. “But I do.” Jasmine felt a strange pull toward him. “Then tell me,” she said. Astrid took another step closer. “You are the key to a war that hasn’t started yet.” Hazel exhaled slowly. “Here we go…” Jasmine frowned. “A war?” Astrid nodded. “Dark creatures are already moving. Demons… corrupted wolves… things far older than the packs.” Jasmine felt chills crawl up her spine. “And they’re all searching for the same thing.” Sarah leaned forward. “What thing?” Astrid’s gaze softened slightly as he looked at Jasmine. “You.” The café suddenly felt too small. Too quiet. Jasmine’s mind spun. “This is crazy,” she whispered. But Astrid shook his head. “No,” he said calmly. “This is destiny.” Cliffhanger Far away in the wolf territories… Alpha Kael stood on the balcony of his massive mansion in Blood Moon Pack.
