THE SECRET OF THE BANISHED MOTHER
The café had never felt this tense.
Rain continued to fall outside, tapping steadily against the windows, but inside the small room the air was thick with silence.
Jasmine stared at Astrid, trying to process everything he had just said.
“A war?” she repeated slowly. “And somehow I’m involved in it?”
Astrid didn’t look away.
“Yes.”
Jasmine shook her head.
“No… you’re mistaken. I’m nobody. I don’t even have a wolf.”
Sarah leaned on the counter, watching them both with curiosity.
“That’s the problem,” she said softly. “Nothing about Jasmine feels like ‘nobody’.”
Hazel stepped forward, her sharp green eyes focused on Astrid.
“You said you were searching for her,” she said. “How exactly did you know where to find her?”
Astrid hesitated for the first time.
Jasmine noticed.
“You’re hiding something,” she said.
Astrid exhaled slowly.
“I was sent.”
“Sent?” Sarah asked.
“By who?” Hazel demanded.
Astrid looked at Jasmine again, his expression softer now.
“By your mother.”
The words hit Jasmine like thunder.
“My… mother?” she whispered.
For years, Jasmine had believed the story everyone in Blue Moon Pack repeated.
Her mother had been banished.
Accused of committing an unforgivable crime against the pack.
A traitor.
A disgrace.
And after that day… Jasmine never saw her again.
“You’re lying,” Jasmine said quickly, shaking her head.
Astrid remained calm.
“Your mother isn’t a criminal,” he said.
Hazel’s eyes widened slightly.
“She’s alive, isn’t she?” the witch asked quietly.
Astrid nodded.
“Yes.”
Jasmine felt her chest tighten.
“All these years…” she whispered.
“She never abandoned you,” Astrid continued gently.
“She was forced to leave.”
“Why?” Jasmine asked, her voice trembling.
Astrid looked toward Hazel briefly before answering.
“Because she was too powerful.”
The room went silent.
Sarah raised an eyebrow.
“Powerful how?”
Astrid’s voice dropped slightly.
“Your mother is one of the most powerful witches leading a hidden coven.”
Hazel slowly crossed her arms.
“That explains a lot,” she murmured.
Jasmine felt like the ground beneath her feet was shifting.
“So you’re telling me…” she said slowly.
“My mother is a witch?”
Astrid nodded.
“And not just any witch.”
“She’s the leader of one of the oldest covens in the supernatural world.”
Jasmine sat down heavily in the nearest chair.
Her entire life she had been treated like she was worthless.
Broken.
A mistake.
But now…
Everything she believed about herself was changing.
Hazel watched her carefully.
“There’s more, isn’t there?” she asked Astrid.
Astrid hesitated again.
“Yes.”
Jasmine looked up.
“What?”
Astrid’s expression became serious.
“The reason your mother sent me…”
“Is because she believes your power has finally started awakening.”
Jasmine felt that strange warmth inside her chest again.
The same pulse she had felt before.
It grew stronger.
More intense.
“What power?” she whispered.
Astrid opened his mouth to answer—
But suddenly every glass in the café shattered at once.
BOOM.
A violent wave of energy exploded outward from Jasmine.
The lights burst.
The tables shook.
And Jasmine’s golden eyes blazed with a brilliant, ancient glow.
Hazel stepped back, stunned.
Sarah stared in shock.
Astrid didn’t move.
Instead, he smiled slightly.
“It’s beginning,” he said quietly.
Jasmine’s voice echoed strangely as the power surged through her.
“What… is happening to me?”
