Chapter 6

1057 Words
Evan I woke up in my old apartment bed. I need to turn in my key; my lease is up at the end of the month, and I’m not coming back. Not that there’s much here anyway—just a few pieces of clothing since I already moved everything else back home. I showered and got dressed, knowing Jay was bringing Keira and Adam here as part two of Austin’s plan. I wanted to look nice for Jay. I had an idea to spend a little alone time together before we had to head back home. I made it over to the frat house around 9:30 in the morning and saw the red sports car parked outside. I knew Jay had arrived. I went inside and saw him there with Kevin and Adam. “Hey, thanks for bringing this guy up here,” I said to him. “It’s no problem. I’m guessing stud muffin enjoyed himself, based on the smiles I saw this morning when I picked them up,” Jay said. I laughed; we all knew what happened last night with Adam and Keira. I could see my kid brother blushing. “Well, I hope so. I mean, it’s not every day I drive two hours in the middle of the night just so my brother can get laid. You know you owe all of us big time for this,” I told Adam. Kevin groaned and said, “Guys, please. It was my sister he was with. I really don’t want to think about what he did last night.” I laughed and said, “Sure thing, Kev,” patting him on the shoulder. “Is there any coffee in this place? I need a cup. A two-hour drive in the early morning? I need more caffeine, darlings, if you want me to be the lovable Jay,” Jay said. This was perfect for my idea to spend time alone with Jay. “Actually, I was going to take you for breakfast as a thank you,” I told him. “Great! Let me get Jaime,” Kevin said. I turned to Kevin and said, “Not you, just Jay. He’s doing more driving in a short amount of time than any of us, so he deserves a special breakfast. Austin’s handling your breakfast.” Adam looked at me with a questioning look on his face but didn’t say anything. “Goody! I love a special breakfast. You’re driving because I’m done for a while,” Jay laughed. “Deal. Tell Austin we’ll be back soon,” I told Kevin and Adam. Adam looked at me and said, “Before you leave, can I ask you something in private?” I was surprised Adam was asking to talk right now, but okay. So I nodded and led him to a room I knew was vacant in the house so we could talk privately. “Okay, kid, what’s up? Did it not go well last night?” I asked him. “No, not that. It’s just… well, I noticed a few things,” Adam said, stammering. “Okay, is something bothering you? Talk to me,” I said, now concerned. He was acting like he was five years old again and had been caught taking Mom’s cookie stash. “Um, look, I don’t know how to ask this, but Keira noticed it at dinner, and you know she and Jay are really close. Well, I noticed too, um…” Adam was stammering. “Adam, just ask the question. It’ll be okay,” I told him, not sure what he was getting at. “Do you like Jay? It’s okay if you do,” Adam asked me. Shock washed over me; Adam knows. Oh my God, my brother knows I’m gay. “Evan, breathe; it’s okay,” I heard Adam say to me. “Adam,” is all I could manage to say. “Evan, I love you, okay? It’s okay if you like Jay. You’re not ready to tell everyone yet, right?” Adam said. “No, I’m not 100% sure, okay? I am attracted to guys. I am attracted to Jay. God, this isn’t the conversation I thought we would be having right now,” I said, breathing heavily. “Evan, breathe. I’m not going to say anything, okay? Don’t worry. When you want to talk, I’ll listen. I just want you to be happy. You’re my brother; I love you,” Adam said. I pulled my kid brother into a hug. “Thanks, kid.” --- Jay Evan and Adam came out of the room, both wearing expressions I couldn’t quite place. I wondered if Adam had some performance issues last night. When you’re new to the world of s*x, no one is expected to be perfect. It takes practice to perfect the art of s*x. That’s the fun part— the practice. “So, ready to go, Jay?” Evan asked me. “Sure thing, buttercup,” I replied. “Buttercup?” he asked. “Oh, he gives everyone a nickname; you’ll get used to it. I’m stud muffin, Keira is baby girl, Kevin is brother boy. So I guess you’re buttercup,” Adam explained. “Why buttercup?” Evan asked. I shrugged my shoulders and said, “You just seem like a buttercup to me.” “Okay then. That’s something I’ve never been told before,” Evan said, shaking his head as he let out a little laugh. We went out to his car, and I got in. We drove to this little diner just outside the college. “I know it’s not a fancy restaurant, but they have the best pancakes here,” Evan said. “Oh, I love fluffy pancakes. It’s a good thing they’re my favorite!” I told him. Evan grabbed my hand and said, “I used the excuse of this breakfast as a thank you for all you did to help Adam, but the truth is, I wanted to spend some time alone with you.” “Oh, you did, did you?” I replied, ignoring how his hold on my hand was giving me butterflies in my belly. “Yeah, I’ve been dying to do this since I saw you at the bar,” Evan said before crashing his lips onto mine.
